So It Finally Happened To Me!!!

By
Real Estate Agent with Vizion KC

So it finally happened to me.   Today while I was eating lunch at Chipotle I received a call from someone who found me on AR.  Unfortunately it was not a potential client.  It was a telemarketer trying to get me to switch property management companies.  After explaining to him that we already have a management company and were not in the market for a new one I asked the telemarketer where he had gotten my phone number.  His response was my website which he got the link too from my AR home page.  While I hate being hassled by telemarketers’ l love the fact that people are finding me on AR!  Has this happened to anyone else?

I get a lot of marketing "opportunities" as well. I don't mind it too much if they hear why I don't want or need there services and get the point and leave me alone. Some don't...and that's a drag.

I've learned to save their numbers in my cell phone as "telemarketer". Once they do leave you alone, they'll call back in 6 mos from the same number...

I have to say I have recieved more people marketing to me than leads but the I have also recieved client leads that make it worth it. If you make your contact information public, sales people are going to find it.

Justin.. Yes, there are pros and cons to ActiveRain.. but hang in there, potential clients look here too.  I've gotten 3 clients from the AR website since April of this year.

I believe I got the same call today in fact and while I don't like the telemarketing calls and they always seem to come at the worst time I do like that I'm being found on AR!

Justin,

If you were the only person he called that would mean that being on AR increased your visibility. Unfortunately, this time (and there have been others) we just gave them a ready-made calling list.

You're giving me hope. I just joined AR about 2 weeks ago.........maybe someday my phone will ring too!! Make sure you had your cell phone to the do not solocit database and that will get rid of any telemarketing business to business calls. (It can take up 30 days for the do not call to go into effect)

Hi Justin -

Unfortunately, when I initially joined AR, I did receive quie a few telemarketing calls.  What also surprised me was that I received a lot of calls from other service professionals here who want me to either use their services or promote their services through my blog.

The great thing is, once you really get into blogging and putting out some quality information consistently, you'll definitely start getting the clients.  It's going to begreat!  You'll see!
