Cleaning Up Your Database

By
Education & Training with Corcoran Consulting & Coaching

With the Holidays just around the corner now is a great time to make sure that you and more specifically your contact manager are ready to send out your Holiday mailings. During the course of the year most agents find themselves too busy to really go through their contacts and assign categories to each contact.  Or they don't assign a category to the contact as they are entering them into their database.  If you have been putting off organizing your database, knowing that with a w ell organized contact manager you would be more productive, ask yourself the following questions:

1.      Do you have a real estate specific contact manager?

2.      Do you get your mailings out consistently and on time?

3.      Do you have multiple categories assigned to your contacts?

If you answered "NO" to any of these questions then you are most likely not using your contact manager to categorize your contacts. By having a labelling system for your contacts you will be able to organize your mailings and client call lists and be more dollar productive.

I will schedule time in my day to go through my contact manager and categorize my contacts. I will make sure that I am assigning multiple categories to my contacts so that I can create target marketing campaigns. By being organized I will be focused on Dollar Productive Activities. I will use the Holiday season to prepare for  a successful 2009!

So true... it IS a good time to do some pruning on the database! We use Microsoft Access and then mail merge our letters / envelopes! It makes mailouts a piece of cake!

Lu, Right on target.... I started my database in 1992 and put everyone in back to 1990... and wish I had started it sooner.  If you work a database on a regular basis and update it even once a month you will be well ahead of the game.  It is your bread and butter if you are in the Real Estate world, on the Realtor Side or on the Mortgage side of things.
