This Labor Day weekend the Shasta County Inter-Mountain Fair is celebrating "A 90 Year Legacy" in McArthur. The fair begins Thursday, August 28, 2008 and offers many different activities for everyone to enjoy. Opening the fair on Thursday there will be a Horse Show at 8:00 AM and Sheep show at 12:00 PM. That evening the Opening Ceremonies and Fair Queen Scholarship Program will take place.Friday, is Seniors Day where all seniors 60 and over are admitted into the fair free. That day's activities include: the Swine and Beef Shows, the Golden Wedding Anniversary Dinner, as well as, fabulous entertainment in the Gazebo. A California Cowboys Professional Rodeo will spotlight cowboys and cowgirls from all over the state for top notch rodeo action on Friday evening. Following the rodeo, the fair will hold for the first time, a fireworks show in the grandstands.
Kid's Day is scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2008 where there will be plenty of games and contests for children to participate in. Also, at 9:00 AM the Large Animal Round Robin show will take place along with Pee Wee Swine and Sheep Showmanship. Cattlemen's Day also takes place on Saturday which includes a Senior Beef Show and a Team Branding. At noon there is a Cribbage Tournament in the Beer Garden. Saturday evening the fair is proud to present Country Artists Emerson Drive in Concert. Their most popular songs include "Moments" and "I Should Be Sleeping". Their high energy makes their concerts very entertaining and enjoyable.
The Junior Rodeo, parade, and more entertainment at Lela's Gazebo all take place on Sunday, August 31, 2008. The popular Burney Lion's Destruction Derby is set for Sunday evening at 7:30 pm. Monday, September 1, 2008 is the final day of the fair, all admission and parking are free. At 8:00 AM there is a Buyers Breakfast which is then followed by the Junior Livestock Auction. There is fun to be had by all who attend the Inter-Mountain Fair. Each day the Exhibit Buildings are open to view local talent as well as many different vendors to see. We hope to see everyone at the 90th annual Inter-Mountain Fair!
