2008 Pacific Rim Conference, September 18 & 19, 2008 - Hilton Waikoloa Village, (Big Island of Hawaii)

Pac Rim 2008I was hoping to play hooky from the conference this year, with NAR in Florida just around the corner.  That is just too many days away from home and business and it is looking like an extremely busy week.  Also I do not enjoy the struggle at the airports, the cramped airline seats and sleeping on hard beds.  So I made my choice, NAR was to be the last trip of the year.

I have never been to Florida and I convinced my brother Russ to go with me.  He is a REALTOR® in Branson, MO.

A week or so back, I was reading an e-mail from our Hawaii Association of REALTORS® reminding me to register for the Pacific Rim Conference on the Big Island.  I looked over who the presenters were and a couple of Active Rain celebrity names caught my eye.

  • Bob Stewart (Active Rain God)
  • Doug Devitre (Active Rain blogger & CRS classmate of mine from Missouri)

There a also a few local experts and a couple of National ones including Saul Klein.

So it is off to the Big Island.  Two days of great information, fellowshipping with other top professionals and hopefully a little sun and water.  Living on Oahu, a trip to Waikoloa may not be as special as it would for someone on the mainland, but it is still a wonderful place for me to visit.

Aloha from Sunny Hawaii.

Jeff D. - I have never been to Florida.  Hopefully the hurricanes won't do too much destruction.

Kathy - I have never stayed in Waikoloa.  This gives me an excuse to check it out.

Sally - I will stick with a hand shake.  You can give him the hug if he makes it to Oahu.

Randy....  that's cool that you are going to NAR this year.  Even though I am in the mortgage side of things, I am thinking about going down, just to meet up with so many 'Rainers'... so maybe we'll get to finally meet....

David - It was good meeting you in person.  It seemed to slow down the last couple of months.  The last week or two, I am seeing an increase in activity again.

"struggle at the airports, the cramped airline seats and sleeping on hard beds"

Hey, Randy. What airports, airlines, and hotels do you hang out in? Remind me never to travel with you. LOL

Russel - I try not to hang out at any of the above.  I traveled heavily by air for several years and do not enjoy it much.  I love to visit other places, just don't enjoy the airports and hotels much.

Living on an island I do like to get out on the interstate and put a few miles of driving in though.  The trip to Florida, I will be flying in to Missouri and driving to Florida.  That helps shake out the rock fever.

Randy, give us an update on the Pac Rim conference please. Never could get over there. I really wanted to take that CRS class about investing and was going to get the HP12C to run on my iPhone. I called HAR and they said they would have over 300 people. Sounded like a good turnout in this market though I'm not sure what kind of numbers they had for the conference in prior years. Aloha and see you again soon I hope. Glad to hear you are busy.

Ronnie - They had over 300.  That is a lot less than in the past from they they said.  I will be making a post about the Pac Rim.  It was quite good.

Trevella - It was great meeting you in person.  I enjoyed the conference.
