Got to have a sense of humor!

The heading says it all..... I sat in the office most of Sunday morning and afternoon taking calls and trying to build my business. I have been off for a year caring for Mom, so I am kinda re-building my business....Anyhow I sit there a good part of Football Sunday fielding calls from mostly FREEBIE seekers.... with "can you give me the location?" or "I just want the address".  I am courteous, and carefully ask  the qualifying questions trying to mold them into an actual client. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't ....But it's the things people say that crack me up....Seriously, these are adults calling in with some truly outrageous attitudes....Maybe it's just me but when this guy said to me "I knew it! this is just a come on" for some reason that struck me as funny...He was seriously angry about it and I wasn't sure why. Was I answering 976-Real Estate?....I don't know maybe this crazy up and down market has me a little loopy but I just don't get it.....for instance the lady caller being upset with our phone system saying we only want her information was snapping at me left and right and then said that's why you Real Estate Agents can't sell a house. I am like what the heck is going on??? did we have a long term relationship that ended on bad terms. I don't know ? I mean I am not hyper-sensitive but these angry people with mis-guided aggression need to call Dr. Phil not hardworking real estate agents...When will people get it?. We really do work for a living!!! I don't know but until then, I will just keep laughing....preferably all the way to the bank!!!

Hi Gina, I try to do everything to generate business including three times or twice a month answering the phone in the office. 99% of the time it is a bust...so I clean up my e-mails do all the mundane things. Once in a while I hit a home run Last year I had a person call about wanting to Lease an Apartment we met and talked and I suggested buying instead. It would make more sense...he agreed and bought a Condominium for $1,2m so I immediately forgot all those wasted hours I just remembered the success. I look forward to go in and hope on another happy story

Hi Gina!

I spend my entire life laughing.  In this business there are always issues...that's what makes it so fun.  Almost every one of our customers are great and we become friends with so many of them.  However, every once in a while we get the customer from hell!  I don't care what business you are in, they are all over the place.  All you can do is laugh...I do!

I have a great program for fielding floor calls and we turn about 80% of our calls into leads.  If you are interested in finding out more about that, please drop me an email at mitch@eHomesRealtyNetwork.com and I would be glad to give you some tips.  It's really quite easy and extremely successful.  My first year in the business I sold 36 homes and 28 of them were floor calls. I love other Agents that tell me floor time is a waste.  I made a ton of money doing floor time!

Good luck and keep on laughing!

I have had several leads from floor time. I had one client call and said she a paper for us to look over, it was her mortgage pre-qual. I snapped her right up and sold her a home. Floor time is mostly a thankless task but the success stories make up for it.

Gina, you definitely need a sense of humor sometimes in this business. Just think what a boring day you would have had if you didn't receive those phone calls. Keep laughing! Good Post!
