Give "Value" When Writing A Comment!

By
Real Estate Agent with Comey & Shepherd Realtors

I love how the ActiveRain format allows us to communicate with each other.

But there is a simple concept can greatly increase the value of  what ActiveRain members and readers can learn from this network.

When you read a post that inspires you to take time out of your day or night and write a comment, why not add your opinion about it or share a different way that something may work or tell a story that's goes along with the post.

I believe that a comment that only says "Good job" or "Way to go" and you get some points is a waste of your time and everyone's time.

I scan comments of the posts that I want to learn more from, because some people do share their expertise, their way of doing something and it's fascinating and educational.

It can cut your learning curve way down!

If we all give 'tidbits of knowledge' when writing our comments, together our minds will expand exponentially.

I was halfway kidding!  You make a very valid point.  Sometimes I've learned more from the comments than the post itself.  Comments are a great opportunity to keep the learning and sharing going.

You're right Dan, we can learn from each other's comments too!

I have found most of my "subscribed" list by reading their comments on other blogs and liking what they had to say.  So commenting well helps your fellow bloggers as well as yourself.  Givers gain.  It's a good way to live.  Except when it comes to dessert, of course.

On the other hand, maybe what you've written just makes people want to say "way to go" and it doesn't necessarily inspire great creative writing. I never think of "good job" as a waste of effort.
I'll take a nice word any day of the week :)

Sometimes the blog was to encourage others to keep going and then there are those that we need to encourage the one that wrote it.

Now that is a stance -- I tend to add more commentary to certain blogs than others.  New Century filing for protection --I wish it was that easy for me not to pay my creditors.  Just my $.01 cents worth

Dan-

Take a deep breath!

If a Comment has less than 25 words, no points are given.

While Comments such as the ones you mentioned may seem like a waste of time to you, they may mean a lot to the person who wrote the post!

If you see one of these Comments, just scroll past it.

If someone really only did it for the points, thay're not going to get any anyway!

I'd like to think that I put lots of thought in my comments, but now I know I must be brilliant in twenty five words. ;~)

I like to comment on issues that are important to me and that catch my interest. Sometimes, all you can say is good job or way to go, but I agree that if you have something to add to the post, it does help others reading through to learn more. I read the blog and all of the posts because I love to hear both sides and here on AR, there's lots of that.
