Art--Raceway Farms looks like a wonderful place to live. I like the maps and photos of homes in the area. Good way to showcase the neighborhood!

Teri,  It certainly is.  I sold 3 homes there in the first 5 weeks it opened - one of them was a USAF colonel who eventually became a Major General before he retired and moved out of town.  Art

Art,

I am the current president of the Raceway Farms Homeowners Association (www.racewayfarms.org) and am happy to answer inquiries about our wonderful community.  As spring greens things up and our neighbors begin to fuss about in their yards, I always feel a renewed since of satisfaction that my wife and I bought a place here back in 2000.

I'm a retired naval officer, now a civil servant at the Pentagon.  We bought our place from a retired Army officer who raised his family here and then moved further south as he needed a single-level home for an aging family member who was having difficulty with stairs.  With Ft Belvoir growing as a result of BRAC and the new NGA facility under construction nearby (expected to employ 8,500 people from around the area!) our community continues to appreciate in value.  We're a 7-minute drive from the Franconia-Springfield Metro, on a Metro bus line, minutes from I-95, etc.

Our community of about 200 homes is very diverse in both age and ethnicity.  It has no through-streets, great public schools (very close by), and is situated in the Mount Vernon District of Fairfax County which hosts George Washington's estate among its many sites of historic interest, and is not far from the Lorton Workhouse, formerly the Lorton Prison, now an amazing arts center.  The Kingstowne Library branch of the Fairfax County Library is less than a mile away--incidently where the Homeowners Association holds its monthly board meetings and our local precinct votes in elections.

Quiet, understated, and a great place to call home--what more could you ask for than to live in Raceway Farms?

Good luck with your work and here's hoping for an increase of activity in the real estate market as interest rates stay low and the summer approaches!

All the best,
Mark Patrick

Thank you for commenting.  I am in the process of redoing my subdivision blogs - they are more comprehensive than this one.  Your comment was timely - I will incorporate your input into the blog.
