Old Manassas Courthouse Prince William County Virginia

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Executives
Prince William County has always played a major role in the development of Virginia and our country continuing to this day.  The courthouse featured in this report was the fifth such building in the county.  The first four courthouses were in Woodbridge, Cedar Run, Dumfries and BRENTSVILLE.  Manassas was at the junction of two area railroads (the reason for two Civil War battles) and grew rapidly after the cessation of hostilities.  That accelerated growth made it feasible to move the county government westward again. The new courthouse was opened at the corner of Lee and Grant Avenues in 1893.  It continued to serve until 1982 when the present courthouse opened two blocks away,  The building was refurbished in 2001 - the Clerk of Court offices are on the fist floor.  The second floor courtroom has been opened up and can be rented for private functions.

My husband and I moved to Prince William County in 1982 and have traveled to every corner of the county to enjoy all that the area has to offer.  We have lived throughout the US from Boston to San Francisco and have always made certain we saw all there was to see.  Too often locals and transplants fail to investigate their surroundings beyond shopping, schools and transportation.  We have been full time real estate brokers since 1976.  Our clients, military and civilian, benefit from our area knowledge and real estate expertise.

The Manassas area offers both bus and train service facilitating the commute to the Pentagon and Washington, DC.  The VRE trains stop at the Franconia-Springfield Metrorail station where you can transfer and have access to the entire subway system.
