Are you eating a ‘WRONG STUFF’ sandwich?

By
Real Estate Agent with The Elizabeth Nieves Realty Group 209227

IF curiosity drove you to click on this post…just to see what in the dickens I’m going on about now…you’re probably not alone. In fact…if I were a bettin’ woman…I’d go with my gut on this one.

However, since I’m feelin’ lucky…I’ll take my little speculation one step further and suggest that some of you have a super-sized ‘WRONG STUFF’ sandwich in your left hand right now…just waiting to take the next bite. And…yet another group of you have been trying to finish up your ‘WRONG STUFF’ leftovers for days…and you’ve got a serious bellyache. Oh yeah…you’ve polished off a family-sized bottle of Pepto-Bismol this week already…and you still can’t get that nasty taste out of your mouth.

Before you run out to the 24/7 drugstore for another bottle of Pepto…gimme five minutes. Actually…all I need is three. So…put down the sandwich...just let it go. We need to talk.

For weeks…many weeks…I have seen and heard a message of hopelessness and despair from EVERY possible source. EVERYONE is talking about the very real crisis that exists in our country. I would rather clean a toilet than have to listen to the national media’s take on the situation one more time, and I’m actually beginning to think that THEY are the source of the problem. (That’s another post!)

A little word demonstration of my point…

Have you ever cooked a 25 pound turkey for Thanksgiving and only had four people show up for dinner? That REALLY did happen to me once. (That’s YET another post!) IF it hasn’t happened to you…take my word THAT after a few days…JUST thinking about another turkey sandwich makes you lose your appetite…IF NOT YOUR LUNCH.

SO what I’m saying is…ENOUGH ALREADY! I don’t want NO MORE…and I suspect that you don’t either.

Do your achey, brakey belly a favor. STEP AWAY from the ‘WRONG STUFF’ sandwich. There is a bountiful feast of the most delicious and tempting (fill in the blank with the most beautiful things you can imagine) already prepared for you. ALL you need to do is come to the table and enjoy.

Now if you’ll allow me just one more minute of your time…I’d like to serve you a little slice of some ‘GOOD STUFF’ right now.

Last night...I received this comment on one of my posts. It really touched my heart and made me think about ALL the many BLESSINGS in my life. This is a portion of that comment:

“The house we lived in before that house was even worse. I don't remember a lot about it since we lived there up until I was about 4. It was bleak; a small, weathered old one room shack that held two full beds, a treadle sewing machine, small dresser and a few straight back chairs pulled up to the fireplace. There was a small room at the back for a kitchen and table. There was no electricity, no running water, no plumbing, and the stove was a wood-burning stove.  There was no refrigerator or any other electrical appliance. There was also a small side room that held a quilt box and shelves for storing vegetables canned by my grandmother and mother. Our lighting at night was achieved by a coal-oil lamp. There were no screens on either the doors or the windows and in the winter there were rags stuffed into the cracks. I have no idea how we did it but eight people lived there, my grandparents, parents, three siblings and me.  I think the adults slept on the beds and the kids slept on the floor. Oh, and our water source was a well in the yard that water was drawn from and that our mother continually warned us from getting near.

Thank God for the covered and shaded front porch with two rocking chairs in the summertime.  The best thing was an abundant vegetable garden, fresh eggs, the amazing nighttime sky, beautiful scenery, beautiful flowers planted by my grandmother, and the beautiful people who lived there (with the exception of my abusive father.)”

Tonight’s post was inspired by Philippians 4:8.

Finally, brothers, whatever is TRUE, whatever is NOBLE, whatever is RIGHT, whatever is PURE, whatever is LOVELY, whatever is ADMIRABLE—if anything is EXCELLENT or PRAISEWORTHY—think about such things.

Eli - I am convinced that the mainstream media will not be satisfied until they have cried wolf so many times that they 1) cause a total collapse of our economy or 2) create such a panic that people are convinced that their bad behavior is the only way to survive.

Life is what we make it.  We can choose to be a "Gloomy Gus" or we can choose to be a "Happy Helen."  Gus is a drag.

We (the country) are in a serious dilemma.  But causing panic and fear does not help solve the problem.

Love ya, sis.  GBU!

I just know God has big plans for you girl.  Make sure you are listening when he tells you what they are.  Not that you don't do VERY important work now, but I think God has bigger plans somewhere down the road for you.

Elizabeth, You quoted one of my favorite scriptures. I use it in my email signature.... The same translation too!

Two days ago, I was driving home from an appt & while waiting on a light to change, I noticed a man in a wheelchair on the sidewalk, waiting for the opportuntiy to cross. Not only was he not able to walk, but his arms & hands were twisted and distorted and kind of flailing above his head. I wanted to get out of the car & talk with him, see if he needed help, but there was no way to pull over. I watched him & tears welled up & I started bawling & crying to God. Please Lord, bless this courageous man, and Lord please forgive me for all the times I have complained or been bugged about the little things, & Lord give me the grace to never complain again! Amen

Hi Elizabeth, Yes, that is a favorite scripture passage of mine also. We DO NEED to PRAISE GOD for BREATH, LIFE, SIGHT, HEALTH, FOOD, SHELTER, A MIND, ABILITY TO WALK, TALK AND MOVE. Bless His Holy Name for allowing me to wake up today and for every blessing!!! Glory, Glory, maybe we can get back to the most important thing - worshipping our Saviour... AMEN !!  Lord, please help us!!

Elizabeth - Like you I've had it with all the doom and gloom that I hear on the radio, on tv and at work.  For me the criis is the lack of faith I see poeple having in one another and their persistent whining about how bad things are instead of being thankful for what they have and the blessings they have been given.  I have had my share of bad times but through it all I always knew there was a light at the end of the tunnel and I am thankful each day for not giving in to the temptations of feeling sorry for myself and for the valuable life lessons I learned from those struggles.  GBU!

It always comes down to what we 'choose' to dwell on doesn't it?  Its like a yoyo game......walk the dog (negative thoughts).............and bring it back (to the positive thoughts)...:-)

It is important not to lose sight of all of those things we have on this earth.  I have turned the TV off for hours at a time because there is just so much negativity.  It is important to take time out to enjoy the beauty in the world.  Lovely post, and a breath of fresh air!
