We assume because we live in an area, everyone knows where that is.  Did you know there is also a:

  • Denver, Iowa?
  • Denver Indiania?
  • Denver, Missouri?
  • Denver, Pennsylvania?
  • Denver, Alabama?
  • Denver, Arkansas?
  • Denver, Florida?
  • Denver, Georgia?
  • Denver, Idaho?

I don't know why town namers can't think of new town names.  Why do the pick existing names?  Don't they know that Google HATES duplicate content?  Don't they know it is difficult to keep things straight?  What happens when you book a ski trip and end up in Denver, Alabama?

Just to set the record straight, I am Kristal Kraft, Denver, COLORADO REALTOR.

And you?

That is where Louisiana names are unique. They do not get duplicated often because many people couldn't spell them again. This is due to who settled the area. a lot of French and Indian names. Is there a New Olreans, Colorado in the rockies?

Most of the other Denvers dont have an airport!!!

A few months ago the "McNews" (AKA: USA Today) wrote an article about the top 50 Restaurants in the US.  They wrote that the Rugby Grill at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham Michigan was in Birmingham Alabama.  Even the reporters can't keep it straight.

Wonder what town is in the most states, something like Monroe, Jackson or Jefferson. Main street is most likely in every state. Something you can research next.

Remember John  Denver?  Oops he came later.  I really don't know, I must go check on that.

There a Harlem in the Neitherlands too.  I think the Dutch named a lot of our places, the  Dutch certainly got around!

There is only ONE NAPERVILLE!

We're in DuPage county. In Illinois, 30 miles west of downtown Chicago.

MONEY Magazine named NAPERVILLE THE #2 city in the country for its schools, its parks, its charming downtown and its inventory of homes.

Just don't get me started...or read my other blog!

Kristal they were pretty smart buying Manhattan Island for $24 worth of trinckets from the Indians. Most NY names are from the Dutch. First we were a Dutch colony, then British, I think French too at one point.

Mitchell,

One of my favorite lines of all time was delivered from our tour guide while touring a castle in Germany.  He said, "I speak 7 languages (then he rattled them off) and I understand several more, so if you speak a language I didn't mention, just try me, I may surprise you.  After all, I'm a Dutchman!"

Actually, his name was John W. Denver, Governor of the Kansas Territory.  In a bit of irony, General William Laimer named the city after the Governor had resigned his post.

Want more irony?  In 1976 Denver had won the bid to hold the olympics, but the people voted against funding the high cost through bonds.

Yup, and Laimer only got a square.  It was also Gov. Lamm that didn't think we needed to build 470, because nobody would ever live down there in Highlands Ranch.  Now we need 2 470's!

Visionary...not.

I always thought Springfield was one of the most replicated place names (don't know why, maybe has something to do with the Simpsons).  Anyway, I looked it up on Wikipedia and there are over 40 Springfields in the US, 5 of them in Wisconsin.  Luckily, there is only one Seattle, named after Chief Sealth.

Wow Ben, how could there be 5 of the same name towns in the same state?  It must drive the USPS crazy!

Marion is the town name I see so often.  I think every state must have one.  Maybe it's a requirement.

I get dozens of flyers from developers, builders, realtors and the like daily.  They're all offering fabulous incentives and upgrades.  I don't know where the heck they are!  Sometimes I send an email and point it out.  What a waste of time and money to email and market on the web and no one knows how to find it.

I also have a gripe about yard signs (area code), email (aol/hotmail address), and email signatures that do not carry the zip code, city, state, etc.  Every piece of marketing material should be a flood of information.  If on the off chance someone wanted to call or find you, could they find you?

Chris ~ I so agree with you.  Builders have the egotistical thing going where they ASSUME we know where their obscure development is...a map or directions are seldom included.
