Cabins to Cathedrals

I started publishing an online newsletter for my construction marketing business.  It comes out once a week(ish) and features an article that relates to custom home construction and green building in particular.  It will also feature different technologies, builders, professionals and issues that impact owners looking to build custom.

I target Texas and southern Oklahoma, but invite all AR folk that are interested in green things to sign up if you think it of interest.

interior of houseHere's a pic of the inside of one of my Cathedrals.  In true green fashion, it is built with as much local materials as possible. (Green definition is less than 500 miles for transportation) The cedar beams are cut from my property, the staircase is also made from local cut and milled cedar.  The flagstone floor is from flagstone from southern Oklahoma (about 40 miles away).  And lots of natural light from the triple-paned windows facing east.

Mike, That's a beautiful work of art. I wish my wood work looked like this...

Thats some great looking wood work, it looks so rich from that picture, I like the idea of green building, although I do have to travel a bit for great wood from Phoenix.

Thanks folks, I try.Actually, for the stairs, you can thank my wife.  She sanded all the stringers with a belt sander.  Took her about a week. All I did was put them up with a chain hoist.

Besides my newsletter, you can join the Green Zone here on AR.  My contributions closely track what I put in my newsletter.

That's pretty neat that you were able to build around the Christmas tree so that you didn't have to cut it down -- LOL. On a more serious note, it's beautiful, and I love your greenness.

Cool, isn't it?  Ever heard of an atrium?  When I say "green", I mean GREEN.

Really, I did build the house in the trees.  This provides shade to the three sides of the house.  The southern slope of the roof is designed so that I can put enough solar panels up there to power 3 homes!
