To choose a system..Drupal vs Wordpress

By
Real Estate Agent with The Herrigel-Kennedy Group - Portside Real Estate

Just curious if anybody out there has had any experience with designing their real estate websites using Drupal

I have read a book on this content management system and fooled around with it a bit but have built my most recent  website about Portland Maine using Wordpress.

My gut is that Drupal is better in the long run as a content management systeme and simply has a bit steeper learning curve  vs wordpress that is very user friendly and offers tons of plugins and obviously works great as a blogging only platform.

Any thoughts anybody?

Thanks,
John, Maine real estate agent

John, I'm curious now about drupal.  Hadn't heard of it before.  I use wordpress on my other blog, and found a huge learning curve with it.  Perhaps drupal would drive me batty then :-)   Thanks for bringing it up - I'll play around with it.

Hey Kris, Drupal is definitley a better content management system and has some really awesome features and can do more in a simpler, cleaner, coded way but it does not have as bit of a following yet as wordpress and thus lacks support and many modules to make easy fixes like Wordpress has.

First I've heard of it so now I have something else to add to my list of things to research.  Nice looking site you built.

John, if you plan to put lots of contents in a non-blog manner (strictly cms), drupal is the best choice for sure. However, for small website with not too much of contents, I would choose something different from wordpress or drupal. I use phpsqlitecms on my site and it works perfect for me. I do know drupal very well though.

I use WordPress for my blog and Joomla for my CMS on some other sites.  It is bigger and badder than WP, and has a steeper learning curve, too.  But it has HUGE support.

Great site. We use Blue Voda mainly because I am challanged to say the list when it comes to that. We do have a full time tech guy for all three companies so he keeps me out of trouble. Have some great holidays.

The craze of open source CMS is substantially increasing and there is nothing to doubt on the same. If you are planning to create a real estate Website, then you should try Drupal; it’s a very powerful platform and helps you to create a stunning and feature loaded portal within no matter of time. Just use appropriate Drupal templates and start creating your portal.
