If you turn on the radio, log onto the web, or God forbid turn on a cable news network, it's always "Things are even worse than we thought." Everyone wants to know whether we're at the bottom, how soon the economy will turn, and what Obama's going to do for us. I can't answer any of those, but I know for sure that this, too, shall pass. When the tide turns, I'm certain it will do so more quickly than anyone expects. I intend to still be in banking when the US ecomomy bounces back, and - in terms of experience and character - we will all ultimately benefit from the present muck we're all mired in.

I am with you, the US is going to go away in 2010 as much as the Russian's would hope we will. Our country has made a lot of mistakes, but somehow by God's grace we pull together and rebound. Funny how freedom allows for that kind of recovery. Last I checked, still not a huge exodus from the US to Russia or China for that matter.

Caring expertise...knowledge for you!

I agree with you that the bounce back will happen quickly, when it starts.    Time, the way we used to understand it, seems to have been erased -- the result, I suppose, of the instant and reactive world of web based information.

Turn off the news. Get some good podcasts and books. Make it a good market. The  news loves to knock us down.

2009 will be great!

Clark, Welcome to Active Rain!  Bad news sells, it's that simple, the more negative, the better.  I think that the answer is to tell everyone to stop watching the news.  It won't take too long for the "experts" to figure out what happened to the veiwership and things may change.  Until then, it's all doom and gloom!
