Another Major Airline has tested "Alternative fuel" in one of its jets. This time a Continental Airlines 737 was the recipient of some more earth and sky friendly fuel! This marks the second test by major airlines testing of alternative fuels.

The fuel of choice This time? Algae...Yep the green stuff...Algae is touted by some as the save all for fuels. While Algae has it pro's and con's it may be a player someday if they can get enough of it produced at a low enough price.

That is also the same with the Jatropha plant...India is positioning itself as the World's largest producer of Jatropha Curcas.Jatropha Curcas is a plant/bush that grow in the most God forsaken areas and produces a nut that has seeds in it.When crushed the seeds yield a oil that is made into Bio Diesel....Oh Rudolph would have been proud!! He's the guy that invented the Diesel engine way back....and by the way the original Diesel engine was made to run on what? Vegetable oil....mmm does this sound like the full circle thing here?? You know Organic produce and Vegetable oils in engines...Interesting!

Here's to Greening the skies...one vapor trail at a time!

Richard - The Jatropha plant is very interesting. I think we will see a lot more of this in the not so distant future.

Alternative fuels for aircraft require extensive testing and evalution.  The impact of unforseen consequences aren't nice to think about.
