The buzz word on the campaign trail last year was "Buy American". When you buy American you help Americans keep their jobs. Doesn't buying a home fit into the category "Buy American"? By doing so, you create a whole chain of American jobs. Congress should be focusing on getting the stimulus $$$$ to the housing industry. There would be lots of job creation here, and we would be buying American by doing so.
Hi Ed, I think you hit the nail on the head. Good job...I appreciate this...best, Sandi.
Ed,
You are dead on.
And it's not just about jobs with housing either.
Municipalities benefit from increased tax revenues, Wall St. banks benefit from home price stability, and consumers win when home values stop falling.
And yet despite all of this, a real housing stimulus coming out of Washington seems like an after thought. This is amazing to me.
Do you really think Congress gives a damn? Both parties signed off on NAFTA and they publicly mocked H. Ross Perot for predicting all of this would happen! I have no regrets for voting for him twice, but I think it is a little late now to worry about buying American. Nothing is made here anymore other than lumber!
Personally, I always buy American. I purchased Chevy and Fords and as many products as possible. I have always practiced what I preached!
