Tuesday, May 8th was primary election day for the Town of Brownsburg's Town Council, Clerk-Treasurer, and Town Judge. Only 2 of the elections were contested - those for the Town Council Ward 2 seat and the Town Council Ward 4 seat.
Brownsburg is a strong Republican supported area, so winning the primary is tantamount to winning the general election in November.
In the Brownsburg Town Council Ward 2 race, Ronna Jessen narrowly defeated Eric Willman in Ward 2. That seat will be vacated by Jeanette Baker, who decided not to run for re-election. Ed Reinhart, who filed for Ward 2 but did not actively seek the nomination, finished a distant third. Ronna is a commercial Realtor.
In the Town Council Ward 4 race current Brownsburg Town Council President Mike Green was soundly defeated by Matt Bowles for the Town Council Ward 4 seat. His loss continues a trend in Brownsburg town elections. Incumbents Charles Ratliff and Robert Waggoner were ousted in last year's primary.
Matt Bowles was supported by the Realtor Political Action Committee. His election web site can be found at www.electmattbowles.org/.
