Macomb County Home Buyer Assistance Program

By
Real Estate Agent with Kee Realty

I have just heard that Macomb County is starting a home buyer assistance program for vacant foreclosed properties in Macomb County. So far from what I've read, the Macomb County Buyer Assistance Program will cover 21 Macomb County communities and concentration will be placed on Eastpointe, Mt. Clemens and Center Line.

The jist of it, from what I understand is that Macomb County can provide deferred payment or forgivable loans for down payment assistance, closing costs, home rehabilitation or other financing for single family, owner occupied residences.

I don't have all the answers to the rules and regulations and qualifications yet, but I am registered to attend an informational meeting on March 23rd. I'm looking forward to learning all the details to this program, especially if it will help buyers and reduce the number of bank owned properties on the market.

I'll post all the details after I attend the meeting.

Whatever it takes to stimulate the market. These programs sound like good ideas to help your area.

Mike,

Oakland County just kicked the same program off 2 weeks ago.  Let me know if you have any questions as I blogged about the program afterwards.

Sounds like a good idea Mike.  We need to see a boost in owner-occupied housing sales.  Too many homes are being puchased by investors  for rental purposes.

I applied for this program the second week of March. They expect to stimulate the economy with this program, but according to the woman I spoke to it takes 6 months to even get your application looked at. When she looked it up I was only the 101th application on the list too. Now that the program is more known, could you imagine how long the 500th applicant is going to wait?

Bmoss - are you sure they said 6 months and not 6 weeks?? If it is 6 months, I agree with you, that isn't going to help stimulate the economy.
