Where's my $8000? Didn't you say $8000? The tax credit.......

One of the most important and relevant topics at Con Ed last week, was two words:

UP TO

Yes, I keep hearing "the $8000 Tax credit for buyers" "the $8000 Tax credit for buyers" "the $8000 Tax credit for buyers" "the $8000 Tax credit for buyers" "the $8000 Tax credit for buyers"

Why am I not HEARING

UP TO  $8000 Tax credit .............

The tax credit is

10 % UP TO $8000

Yes, 10% of the sales price, so if you paid $63,000 for your home, your tax credit would be $6300.

Buyers, I seriously hope that lenders and realtors and accountants and who ever is out there talking about tax credits makes sure that you understand how this will work. It will be part of your income tax refund.

Realtors, Don't let your clients be disappointed, make sure they know and understand that it's an up to $8000 income tax credit. Applied for by filling out your 2009 Federal income tax forms next year.

Stand tall, be proud of who you are, where you come from and where you will go. Bend in the wind, Bow in the rain, and Shine in the SUN.

Taxpayers who have already filed their 2008 tax year return (in 2009) can amend their 2008 return to claim the 1st time homebuyers' credit (up to $8000). They can get the money this year, rather than waiting until 2010.
