music: Think Thin Thursday ~ Add Some Play into Your Work for Mind & Body - 04/21/19 05:19 AM
When I talk about "small changes" having huge benefits it isn't limited to our physical bodies. They will improve or as a minimum bring the potential to impove every aspect of our lives and quite possibly the lives of those around us. Dance & music were the original means of comminication for humans and second to survival their use carved specific traits of the diverse cultures we have observed since the Dawn of Man. This shall never change so let's mix it up a bit shall we?

music: Throwback Thursday to 1965 - 07/11/17 06:37 AM
Many of you might be thinking "I wasn't even born yet" but much of this song continues to apply to today. Even though a half centuy has passed since this song's release the turmoil continues unabated. The difference is in the players but essentially the tune goes on and on. Take a look around you, boy. It's bound to scare you boy!
Special thanks to Barry McGuire

music: Where Does the Time Go? Know as with land in Real Estate they're not making any more of it! - 06/30/16 05:14 AM
"I sit beside the fire and think
Of all that I have seen
Of meadow flowers and butterflies
In summers that have been
Of yellow leaves and gossamer
In autumns that there were
With morning mist and silver sun
And wind upon my hair
I sit beside the fire and think
Of how the world will be
When winter comes without a spring
That I shall ever see
For still there are so many things
That I have never seen
In every wood in every spring
There is a different green
I sit beside the fire and think
Of people long ago
And people that will see a world
That I shall never know
But all the while I … (6 comments)

music: What Does Arlo Guthrie have in common with the Local MLS? - 06/13/15 07:55 AM
Some of you are saying to yourself who the heck is Arlo Guthrie? Without going into a diatribe of the 60's, he is a musician and song writer whose folk and folk-rock songs brought awareness of social injustice and peaceful protest to an enlightened many with his continuing political activism beginning in early 1967 to today. The apple didn't fall far from the tree. His Dad was also an American folk artist, Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Guthrie who is best known for his song "This Land is Your Land", an American Classic, which I'm nearly certain all school children have sung at … (8 comments)

music: Why did Kevin cross the road? Because he found Jupiter's best Burger! - 04/24/15 12:13 AM
You've heard the similar sounding line about the chicken. Now I have a compulsion to want to get to the other side. The other side of Indiantown Road that is, the South side, it'll take you to #250 West Indiantown Rd.. There you'll find the Old Florida Bar & Grill. Actually, you will likely hear the music before you see it and when you do pull around back to park and enjoy the experience.

music: Final Thoughts at the End of Another Wordless Wednesday - 08/13/14 01:48 PM

With all of the turmoil around the World and in our streets it surprises me that we've not found any form of resolution to our many ills as a society.  So many smart people in every corner we occupy and a solution has not been placed within our grasp.  This old Cat Stevens song still resonates with hope and possibilities but it is approaching its 45th birthday.  Stevens moved on to become Yusuf Islam in the interim and probably still wonders "where do the children play".  How far have we really traveled?

music: Back to 1958 For Friday Fun Music - The Voxpoppers & The Last Drag - 08/30/13 05:31 AM
It took me almost 40 years to get a 45 single of this song and here it is in it's Music Video form for your enjoyment.  If you're a "thirty something" please don't bother listening.  The older crowd who know this one may wish to add some volume.  Back in the days when everything we did was wrong, play in the streets, out until dark every day, pre-seatbelts and the "padded dash.  Somehow we magically survived!

music: Let's Jazz Up Wordless Wednesday with a Piece of Local Talent - 07/30/13 07:19 PM
I had the luxury of enjoying Ryan's talent for years at the now gone Bayshore Coffee Company at least once a week.  His group was known as "Little Eddie & the Fat Fingers" and they could put on a show in this tiny venue.  Always standing room only when they played.  I don't get a chance to see them as much but Eddie is still local and plays at Pelican Larry's in North County and on Pine Ridge Road.  If you're interested in putting some Blues in your life he's the man who can do it.  Thank you for all of the … (8 comments)

music: Fabulous Friday - When Music is Added to Your Culture the Life Thrives - 05/03/13 12:29 AM
What a special experience this would be.  Out for a stroll in Sabadella near Barcelona in Spain and a symphony orchestra, accompanied by a popular choir, appears magically out of nowhere and begins playing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.  See the children's reactions to this impromptu event.  That is how you can tell just how special this musical happening is.
If you were feeling a little down this morning you won’t be after watching this!

music: Sunday Sounds - Neil Diamond "I Am, I Said" this Easter Day 2013 - 03/31/13 01:39 AM
Somewhat of a somber song this Easter morning.  One that will make you think and attempt to interpret it's meaning.  There is a link between artist and audience that is a personal and individual bond.  Neil Diamaond's voice is one that is easily recognizable to his listeners.  That isn't it's only quality though, there are messages in the tone and if you're lucky enough to see him in person, it is contained in his expression also.  Few artists convey this external communication as deeply, even today's most popular talent.  Yes, surely we can prefer a certain beat, the rythym, the combination … (13 comments)

music: What's So Special About The Doors in Naples, Florida? Listen Up! - 11/13/12 02:13 AM
Roughly 15 minutes from my home and office you'll come upon the Philharmonic Center for the Arts located within Pelican Bay. It remains one of great venues for those who like a smaller, more intimate look at the musical artistry and performing arts which play here. Known as The Phil, it features the performing and visual arts in a single complex and and also hosts a resident orchestra. There's a 1,475 seat main hall, a 282 seat theater and four art galleries showcasing exclusive exhibitions. Each season, the Phil hosts over 400 individual events. There's also a huge emphasis on education … (2 comments)
