n high st: Did Worthington's ghost "Irwin" run a business out of town? - 10/12/10 01:02 PM
Did Worthington's ghost Irwin run a Fine Lines stationary store out of town?

I just noticed the Fine Lines store at 657 High St. in Worthington is gone.  The sign in the window tells you they've moved to Uptown Westerville and joined forces with another similar store.  Recession?  Perhaps it was Irwin.  Do you know the story of the haunting of the stationery store?
The story goes the building on High Street just north of the Worthington Inn was built in 1890 as a general store.
The Worthington Public Library site says:
" At the time the store was … (4 comments)

n high st: Pita Hut on N. High Street - 08/12/10 08:29 AM
Pita Hut or I guess it is Pita Hut N Grille is right next door to Bob's Bar.  I got a twofer Friday evening.  I met some co-workers at  Bob's Bar,   "The Cultural Hub of the Midwest" for "happy hour" on Friday.  There were only 5 of us who went to Bob's Bar.  The "be there or be square" was not a big enough challenge for most in our Worthington office.  Only two of us went to Pita Hut.
The hungry ones.
Pita Hut N Grille is at 4965 N. High St. Columbus Ohio 43214.  The north Columbus area might be … (2 comments)

n high st: Move from Worthington? - 08/08/10 01:52 PM

Move from Worthington to Dayton?    The Masons may move from Worthington according to this article written by Dean Narciso in the Columbus Dispatch.   The Columbus Dispatach article has a great photo of the Masonic Lodge on High Street too...'Grand Lodge of Ohio' taken by Ed Matthews.    Center for Masons could go to Dayton
Narciso's article says:
"A little-known part of Worthington's heritage rests in a museum of Ohio relics situated below a 190-year-old meeting hall, the oldest Masonic temple west of the Appalachian Mountains."
Costs could be cut by moving west to Dayton... it would cut costs fifty … (3 comments)

The sign on the 5200 block of  High St. Columbus Ohio ... I'd call it Clintonville but that would just be wrong... ;- )   Even if  the sign up the road at the south end of Worthington says "Welcome to Clintonville."
The Pierce Cleaners sign on Hight Street today....

Pierce Cleaners is located at  5205 N. High St. Columbus Ohio 43214... That's Sharon Heights?
Here's a close up of the temporary sign...  today. The   Pierce Cleaners "We're Open" sign up now.  The Pierce Cleaners sign says "Our sign will be back soon!" and also says "The historical sign … (2 comments)

n high st: The Delawanda - 06/18/10 01:34 AM
The Delawanda was where the Delawanda Park and Ride is today.  The Delawanda was a "tea-room" in the late 20s and early 1930s.  The Delawanda would have been in an unincorporated area, Sharon Township back in the 1920s and 1930s, north of Columbus.  The Delawanda had a Worthington address, the Village of Worthington would have been closer than a Columbus post office at the time?  It makes me wonder if Old Beechwold had a Worthington address in the 1920s and 1930s. The park and ride is north of Rathbone Rd. The Old Beechwold neighborhood is just south of Rathbone Rd.

n high st: Clintonville "If you build it..." - 01/20/09 10:24 PM
From 'Field of Dreams.'  "If you build it they will come."  Not a baseball diamond in a cornfield.
If you build a turn lane on N. Broadway in Clintonville more traffic will use North Broadway rather than side streets, according to at least one Clintonville resident who lives on North Broadway.
Clintonville does not have cornfields.  An established area on the cities north side, Clintonville is primarily residential.
I had to stay up and watch the news last night to see what neighbors in Clintonville were arguing about.  10TV.com - Clintonville Neighbors Argue Over Busy Intersection     The solution for some Clintonville … (6 comments)
