Jamestown RI - Jamestown Windmill - 1787 History. Conanicut Island is the home of Jamestown RI....yes, it has the most wonderful state park affectionately known as Beavertail. As a Rhode Islander it is a must stop with a friend or your honey to watch the pounding of the surf on the rocks, definitely watch an incredible sunset or just walk the rocks after driving around the Beavertail lighthouse which is still very functional. As an island, Jamestown is located between the East Bay (Newport) of RI and the West Bay (North Kingstown) as we Rhode Islanders label our sides … (13 comments)

Appreciate this Rhode Island View in all its hazy splendor...when one is able to grab the camera and catch a Narragansett Bay view from North Kingstown mainland to Jamestown (Conanicut Island) passing on to Newport....now that helps me make a great day. Almost as good as a goey hot fudge sundae. The Newport bridge in the distance behind this foggy blanket cover gives way to this amazing view. Soft and subtle I would say and one that you might catch quickly while driving by and say why didn't I stop and take that picture. Darn! Make that stop every time... … (15 comments)

The first day of the New Year brings out the Bear in all of us as the Polar Plunge in North Kingstown RI-Narragansett RI-South Kingstown RI -Jamestown RI will all be underway. Not only is the ocean and Narragansett Bay a tepid 36 degrees at the waterfront but all manner of attire makes the polar plunge viewing (now I never said I would take this leap!) into the icy waters worth a Kodak moment!
