It is the time of year that you crave fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers. Rather than heading to your local grocery store, head to your local Farmer's Market. Below is a daily list of markets in the Northern Virginia area. This list is not complete, so be sure to check your local paper for a market near you.

It is too late to enjoy the Farmer's Market at Lake Anne Plaza in Reston, VA this week, but it will be back again next week! The Farmer's Market, which runs from May until October, is held each Saturday from 8 a.m. until 12 noon.
I was not able to get a good shot of the portion of the Farmer's market that features the produce, fresh meats, baked goods, flowers and other goodies. Is there anything better than a fresh tomato? Here in Reston, we have the honor of hosting an awesome Farmer's Market, The Reston Market each Saturday morning from May to October at Lake Anne Village Center. If you have not had a chance to wander through this market, which is held during the Spring and Summer months, I highly recommend it. You will find much more than just tomatoes! Some of the items featured include (but are not limited to) pies, cheeses, buffalo meat, other cuts of meat, plants, herbs, jewelry, bread and of course fresh fruit and vegetables.

This weekend was one of those picture-perfect weekeends. Low temperatures, low humidity, bright blue skies and not a jam-packed calendar.I took advantage of the unusually appointment-free weekend to enjoy some of my favorite things about Reston. Saturday Morning I made my almost-12 year old run errands with me. Our last stop was at the Lake Anne Village local farmers market in Reston. I could tell by his gait as we left the car that he was less than eager. He had a blast! Fresh food, snacks, plants and more...what's not to like? He now told me he wants to go every week. I told him that in our area (Fairfax County, Eastern Loudoun areas of Northern Virgnina) we are fortunate to have one of these markets almost every day.
