Carlsbad hosts several premier running events during the year. The Carlsbad 5000, on April 7th, is reported to be the world’s fastest 5K race. Several world and US records have been set, and broken, since the race was established in 1986. No doubt runners will attempt to set new records in 2024!
The Carlsbad 5000 is presented by National University.
There’s still time to register online, but don’t delay as this event usually sells out.

The popular Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon is Sunday January 15th, in our beautiful village by the sea. That’s also the Martin Luther King holiday weekend - officially Monday the 16h!
If you are a distance runner you may be finishing your training for the upcoming Carlsbad Marathon and Half Marathon. Or one of the other races, too!
The Carlsbad Marathon is a very popular running event, and is a qualifying race for the well-known Boston Marathon. No doubt there are plenty of runners from other areas of the US planning on this world-class event!

There are several premier athletic events held during the year in Carlsbad. The Carlsbad 5000, on May 22 and presented by National University, is reported to be the world’s fastest 5K race.
Several world and US records have been set, and broken, over the years, and runners will likely attempt this again! [photo is of runners from a different event in Carlsbad]
There’s still some time to register online for the 5K and the Junior Carlsbad. The All Day 20K, consisting of four 5-K races, has sold out!

Carlsbad hosts multiple premier athletic events, including the Carlsbad 5000 which is reported to be the world’s fastest 5K run, with a number of world and US records set, and broken, over the years.
Ownership and management of this event changed hands back in 2019. Ashley Gibson and her company Groundwork Endurance purchased the race in 2018, and well-known local marathoner Meb Keflezighi joined as co-owner for the 2019 race. They are managing this year's 5K as well.

The Carlsbad Triathlon is a popular event and supposedly one of the longest-running triathlons in the world. This world class event, the 38th this year, attracts talented first timers, amateurs, and elite athletes from around the US and the world.
This year’s Carlsbad Triathlon is Sunday July 14th and you can still register online but time is running out. The Triathlon starts at 7:30 am at Tamarack Surf Beach, located at 3900 Carlsbad Boulevard (the Coast Road/Historic Route 101) about a mile south of Carlsbad Village.

This Weekend in Carlsbad Village
Carlsbad is home to a number of premier athletic events, and the Carlsbad 5000, is considered the world’s fastest 5K run. This internationally known and popular race will be held this coming Sunday March 25th in Carlsbad, the 33rd year, with the Junior Carlsbad 5000 run on Saturday!
Unfortunately if you have not registered you will have to wait until the day of race, if there is still room, as online registrations are closed for all events – the 5000 (all runs) and the Junior Carlsbad 5000.
