According to Zillow's raw Home Value Index, U.S. home values fell 0.1% from June to July 2022. This was the first such decline since 2012. Home values fell last month in 30 of the 50 largest metro areas. Nonetheless, home values are still up 16% from a year ago. That's the "bad" news.

The number of homes sold was flat quarter-over-quarter and the average sale price was almost $90,000 higher than in the First Quarter 2022. Average sale price rose 21.19% over the same quarter one year ago, setting a new record for home prices. Sale prices ranged from a low of $411,500 to a high of $550,000.
