art: Our Move, the Video - 10/28/22 08:13 AM

This video shows the results of us (Timmothy N. Timm and I) moving to the lower level of the building we were already in at 201 Main Street South, Minot North Dakota.
The bulk of the video is about the Titus & Philemon Art Gallery but I also give you a glimpse of my office, Ward County Notary Services.
We gained considerably more space with this move and the added bonus of lower rent made the move a no-brainer.
I assumed that all this new wall space would allow us to invite one or more new artists to join us ... … (6 comments)

art: That's Different - 10/02/22 06:14 PM
On the way home from a walk in the park I decided show Timmothy & Carol some unusual homes I drove by earlier. Carol spotted this thing in a backyard that I assume some artist made about 50 years ago out of pipe and farm equipment disks. I suppose originally it was made for potted plants... and then came along another artist who most likely didn't have a green thumb.
I am further guessing that the rock they put on the first disk had an extreme gravitational pull to it. Here is another close up of a different disk.

art: Wall Art - 04/16/22 05:37 PM
Carol and I have collected a lot of art over the years having had owned two public Art Galleries and having two active artists living under our roof BUT when I looked out the window last night I had to say to myself: "Now that is art!".
Gotta love the full moon coming through the branches of a bare tree with 36" of fresh snow on the ground.
I've said many times that no artist has painted/created anything God has not created. The creator of all that is seen and all that is not seen is THEE Artist.
Today is the day to celebrate … (6 comments)

art: April starts on Friday. My picks for the 1st and 2nd. - 03/29/22 11:26 AM
I have no desire to cover all the things going on in Minot the first two days of April (Friday and Saturday) 2022 but there are a couple of things I may take in myself. My 2nd podcast of the year, and week, will fill you in. One involves the arts and the other sports even though sports is not my thing I may be up to this one.
I just realized I put up the Sabre Dogs logo BUT this is a MSU Beavers game. The good news is that the Sabre Dogs will be back for another season... just a … (10 comments)

art: War, destroy the enemy, destroy the culture. - 03/02/22 07:13 AM
NOTHING IS SADDER THEN THE NEEDLESS LOSE OF HUMAN LIFE.
Close behind is the lose of culture. On Monday many of the works by Maria Prymachenko  were destroyed by Putin's war.
Roughly 25 paintings by the celebrated Ukrainian artist Maria Primachenko were burned as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement posted to social media on Monday.
Any one who reads my posts regularly know I hold art in the highest regards (not as high as the value of human life). I see art as a reflection/interpretation of all that God has given us.
When I … (22 comments)

art: Story Boards - 08/05/21 07:27 AM

If you have ever strolled along the walking path of Minot's Oak Park you surely have seen the story boards along the way.  The story boards are maintained by The Minot Public Library and typically have a pictorial story by Dr. Seuss or another popular artist. The storyboards have been in place for many years and well maintained. They have never featured a local author/illustrator... until NOW!

Timmothy N. Timm, Author of two comic strip books, will be the first with his art being installed this week on the Oak Park story boards. Timmoth's books are about two guinea pigs, Titus and … (14 comments)

art: Some Teachers KNOW How To - 03/05/20 01:10 PM
We have all heard the expression that "those that know how, do it, and those who don't teach it". My life experience has been far from that. The great majority of teachers I've been under the tutelage of were excellent achievers in the field they taught about.
Today, March 5th, and for the next month the Art instructors at Minot State University proudly present Faculty X, an exhibit of their own skills to the public.
Bill Harbort, Chair of the MSU Art Department tells us his history, his passion, and about his work on display at Faculty X.

Bill Harbort is a professor in the … (8 comments)

art: My Son the Artist - 02/02/20 05:26 PM
I've written several posts about my son Timmothy and his comic strip books that he has written and illustrated but I've never really shown you his true artistic abilities (except the videos I've posted of his skill as a pianist). Let's start with my favorite. I call it Mexican Timmothy, he calls it self portrait.
I absolutely LOVE this self portrait. It always makes me smile and often laugh out loud.
This next picture is a wall of art I keep by my desk at home. Quite a variety but it doesn't cover all the styles he's learned in High School.
Last of all … (18 comments)

art: Part 2 of my interview with Walter Piehl - 01/14/19 01:23 PM
On Friday my radio program (not a podcast) featured the 2nd half of my interview with Walter Piehl, Nationally recognized artist from Minot ND.

Even though Walter Piehl is/was my 1st interview of 2019 I think it's bound to be at the top of my list of favorites when I get to the end of the year as well. I hope you listen to both part 1 and part 2 together, I'm sure you will not regret it. We received a lot of positive feedback at the radio station when they played the episodes on the air.
Part 1 can be found through … (0 comments)

art: If You Like Photos - 09/21/18 05:45 PM
I do a lot of bragging about our local news paper the Minot Daily News. One feature I've wanted to post about but have never gotten around to is a feature they do at least once a month called AP (Associated Press) Photo's. AP has a website full of interesting photos and you can find it here http://www.apimages.com/ . If you enjoy photographic art you can spend hours here. Some shots are heart warming, some gut wrenching, in fact you can find something to touch just about any emotion. Enjoy.

art: Life and Entertainment Live on past the 4th In Minot ND - 07/04/18 03:03 PM

If the 4th of July just got your motor running you will be glad to see a full schedule of events for the 5th!
I'm going to make it another day in the Park. I can't tell you anything about the Jensen Sisters or visual artist Kim Whittemore right now but I will after the concert.
The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs are back in town after 5 days on the road. Good chance you will catch me there as well.
I'm also looking forward to seeing the art of Dr. Andrea Donovan at Artspace. Andrea has a ph.D. in European and Art History and … (4 comments)

About every two years our local Art Museum holds a Art (Rummage) sale. Included this year is vintage woman's clothing. I have purchased many bargains at these sales. Some of my purchases are on my wall at home or in my office and some have been given to Buyers as gifts. I've NEVER failed to find bargains here. Sorry about the short notice as it's Thursday from 4PM to 8PM so get ready to hustle over there with some cash and score BIG.

art: AMAZING ART by The World's Greatest Artist! - 10/26/11 12:52 PM
AMAZING ART by The World's Greatest Artist!

Any one who has or had vision has viewed this artists work at some time or another. He has worked with every form or art known to man and most likely some art we are not even aware of. I'd like to say that my favorite works are his visual presentations but when I think of his musical skills and culinary skills it's really hard to pick my favorite.
This post is about a very recent work, finished sometime last night or very early this morning. This beautiful piece was created under his … (18 comments)
