minot: Who could resist Reverend Raven & The Chain Smokin' Alter Boys? - 08/05/18 05:02 PM
Sometimes a name says it all.
I admit I've never heard of Reverend Raven & The Chain Smoking Alter Boys and while that name may be a total turn-off to you I knew I just had to make sure my calendar was clear for this one.

Here is the info you need to know to join me (Courtesy of the Minot Daily News).

minot: Card Sharks - 08/05/18 04:13 PM
Unlike these guys to the left playing in a darkened room my clan and I had a big game out on the picnic table this beautiful Sunday afternoon.
Unlike the two dogs in the center of the picture DAD won the game without cheating!
It was perfect out with the temp in the upper 70's, a occassional small breeze, and only an occassional pesky fly to cause trouble. I was prepared with a jar of hardware washers in case the wind picked up and they did come in handy a couple of times. The one thing missing was my skill of taking a selfie as … (12 comments)

minot: SE Central Minot, My Hood - 08/02/18 07:44 PM

Moving to Minot, consider Central South East Minot.

If you are looking for a modestly priced home ($120,000 to $200,000) in a decent and safe neighborhood you would be wise to consider South East Central Minot.
Most of the homes in this neighborhood are around 1,000 Sq'. The original homes were build in the 30's and some of those homes were rebuilt again in 1970 and some again in 2012 due to "100 year" floods. Obviously there are newer homes sprinkled throughout the neighborhood because of those who chose to tear down flood damaged homes and build new.
The elementry school of our neighborhood … (12 comments)

minot: Christian Concert Coming to Minot this October - 08/01/18 01:24 PM
Minot North Dakota is not well known for pulling in the Christian Music concerts as we are a bit off of the Bible Belt and lets face it, Christian/Gospel bands are not a big draw at the casinos either.
KHRT Radio is bringing Casting Crowns to Minot Saturday October 6th.
They will be playing at the Minot Municipal Auditorium which I think will be an excellent location. The Minot Municipal Auditorium has ample seating and parking and I think fairly decent accustics.
I have not yet heard the price of tickets but I know there is a discount for groups of 10 or more … (5 comments)

minot: It's Going to be a Long, Long Fall - 07/31/18 05:38 PM

I don't remember if it started mid June or early July but I'm already tired of all the political advertising in the Great State of North Dakota.
I'll try NOT to show my bias here but clearly stated Kevin Cramer is a rock solid Tea-Party Republican and Heidi Heitkamp is a Hillary Clinton Democrat. Both have raised a lot of money. One has received about 95% of their funds from supporters in the State and the other about 95% from outside the State. You can't watch a half hour of television with out seeing at least 2 ads.... and it's not August yet … (12 comments)

minot: An interview with MSU Athletic Director Andy Carter - 07/27/18 08:56 AM
WOW! What a GREAT interview! I thought it would be a good idea to interview Minot State's Athletic Director prior to the "kick off" of football season but after enough tape (or do I need to say gigabytes of information) for 3 full shows of Minot Real Estate Today we didn't even get to football. I am so impressed with Andy Carter I know I'm going to be talking about this interview for years to come.

minot: Green Water is NOT Pretty and it is NOT Safe Either. - 07/25/18 06:46 PM

By this time of year it's typical to see algae on most bodies of water in North Dakota. Some algae is dangerous and if you are like me you may not have a clue as to if the algae you see is dangerous or not. I took the picture below on a fishing dock on the Mouse River in Minot. Even though the water is flowing pretty well at this time there is plenty of algae and on any standing ponds in the City the water is absolutely covered like a thick pea soup. This water could be deadly to humans and pets. … (10 comments)

minot: Meet the Wildlife in Minot - 07/23/18 07:58 AM

The Tivoli Custom Homes model homes are located on 11th Ave NE just a couple of blocks off of Broadway and just a couple of blocks from Minot State University. I spend a lot of time at the model home located at #9 11th Ave NE and I sit right next to some great windows that face the back yard. I've enjoyed watching deer walk into the yard and lay down to take a nap. Today another family stopped by, mom, dad, and the two kiddo's. Dad opted out of the family photo.

minot: Tivoli Custom Homes, Minot ND - 07/23/18 06:46 AM
When I revealed my plans to retire from Real Estate to the owner of Tivoli Custom Homes I was very pleased that he asked me to stay on as a "Project Coordinator". This fits in well with my plans and with Tivoli Custom Homes plans as I get to use a beautiful custom home as my office and Tivoli has someone on location at all times in case someone would want to come and get information on what Tivoli can build for them. I am also here to keep the contractors coordinated as they build and complete homes for Tivoli. Here … (12 comments)

minot: 2018 ND State Fair Parade - 07/21/18 08:02 PM
The 2018 North Dakota State Fair Parade kicked off at 9:30 Saturday morning. As usual I set up my seats at 8:00 AM. I'm very happy to say it was a real enjoyable time and the weather was absolutely perfect.
There were about 250 entries into this years parade which was typical. I lasted through the first 150 entries and by then my cloth grocery bag was filled to the brim with tootsie rolls.
Cara Mund, Miss America
There were cars.
Big Equipment
Stagecoach and horses.
US Senator John Hoeven and Bob Timm
There were Native Americans
and Aliens!
Bicycles, motorcycles, and much much more.

minot: Tonight's Nature Walk, focus on critters. - 07/18/18 06:35 PM

I didn't see any of the critters above in the banner but 3 out of 5 of them were with-in a matter of feet from us as our walk was around Roosevelt Park which is just outside of the Roosevelt Park Zoo. I'll skip the flower picks tonight (although I got some for later) and just show you the animal life on the walk.

All 3 photos were taken this evening BUT yes that is my backyard bunny.

minot: Meet Oscar - 07/16/18 07:17 PM

A week or two ago someone asked in the Q & A section of Active Rain if our community had street vendors selling ice cream. Minot has Oscars!
This coming Friday's radio interview on Minot Real Estate Today is with 14 year old Oscar, 3 year veteran of the business world. Hear how an 11 year old went from corner lemonade stand to a company with 2 vehicles and 11 employees. This year Oscar will be a High School Freshman and next year he may even have a drivers license so he can drive one of the vehicles he owns.

minot: Hey Lily - 07/15/18 07:35 PM

On my evening walk this lily obviously bloomed just for me so I could show it to you. Truth is I'm always enviouslyof the beautiful lily shots I see here on Active Rain. Roy Kelley always has some amazing shots.
This is another photo from one of the gardens in and around The Roosevelt Park and Roosevelt Park Zoo. The Park District does an absolutely amazing job with their gardens and the endless variety of plants they they show us.

minot: Today's Radio Broadcast with the Ward County Historical Society - 07/13/18 08:34 AM

This interview took place "on site" at the Ward County Historical Society with Bryan Goetch, Site Director. Brian is an excellent example of how the Minot Air Force Base benefits the greater Minot Area by bringing such high quality young people to our community who often stay after serving our country to raise their families here. After serving our country for 8 years (retiring as a Staff Sargent) Bryan attended Minot State University and graduated with a major in history and a minor in English.
