You will find some conversation since 2007 on painttalk,com a professional painters' web site.

being a professional painting contractor I have been doing a lot of "neutralizing" to get
homes clean before going on the market.
 
It is one thing to paint for others and it is another to paint for oneself.  It is like to old story of the shoe
maker who never had time to make shoes for his own family; well, it is the same for painters.
 
We are looking to move ourselves and started to "neutralize" taking away the beautiful finishes

pressure washing deck,staining deck, and painting the columns which decorated the porch
painting the basement floor after drylocking the exterior basement walls...we used a Behr Floor Paint which was wonderful and the drylock was tinted to a beautiful yellow which she selected

Recently we hired a professional painter who moved from Western Florida to join our staff of professional painters.
 
For two weeks he has performed beyond our expectation.
 
My teams are told when they are hired that we expect them to be professional always (in word and deed), to limit their cell phone
use as well as cigarette smoking.  They know from the beginning that I will not allow them to work inside someone's home if
they smell or smoke, leave cigarette butts anywhere, or smoke on a project even outside if they are painting the inside of a home.

Many people ask why do we recommended certain paints?  The answer is naturally from experience and our own experience in clean up which I will explain at the end.
 
We have found over the years that Sherwin-Williams offers two great trim paints 
Brod-Dugan which was a company that Sherwin-Williams purchased based in St. Louis had a product Acrylastic which is 100% acrylic and has its' own sheen which is similar to a semi-gloss and covers excellent.  This paint is used both for interior and exterior.
