Many of you know that I have been a decorator forever and love every aspect of the biz including staging homes for resale which is how I found AR to begin with. (breathe) Creating my own path...I went to the school of Ladders and Chutes and have always run the other direction when groups and structure loomed in the distance. Active Rain is my first real life group that I feel like I am a part of.
I have had the distinct pleasure of being guest moderator for the Stage It Forward group the month of June and it opened my eyes to the strength of the stagers who make up this group. New names are popping up every day and getting to know them in such a supportive environment is really very special, something many never experience. I did not write posts in June because I wanted to let the life and the movement of Stage it Forward effect me without judgment or opinion. Wow! It is like a really big family with all types of personalities. Celebrating the differences is the core feeling that I am taking away from this experience. A kind of trust that everything is going to be all right.
What is so wonderful about life is if you are lucky; you will outlive your stubborn ways and take a path you never thought of before, maybe even two. So back to the point of this post and my new direction...
Shell Brodnax contacted me via Active Rain email a few months ago and wanted to make sure that if she had contacted me in the past demanding that I cease and desist using a particular word in my business...that she was truly sorry and wanted to apologize to me personally. I was very impressed with her commitment to her own values and going way beyond what was required of her. She wanted to do what was right. Shell has an amazing energy seldom experienced by me and we hit it off, we met, we clicked, and now I am headed in a whole new direction serving as National Vice President of RESA, right under Shell as the president and CEO. We have since turned what was a chance meeting here in Active Rain into a new venture that will put our combined experiences to good use.
Oh, it doesn't stop here...
Feng Shui just makes me laugh because of what I see visually in it's techniques and I have had fun with it here in the rain with a couple of posts. Now again...another chance meeting through posting and commenting in the rain, a Feng Shui Consultant got a kick out of my posts and wanted to see more. Who is it? Our very own Carole Provenzale of Feng Shui Long Island
I know absolutely nothing about Feng Shui but love trying it out in my head. Carole, on the other hand who knows Feng Shui as a profession, has reached out to me (to save me from myself probably) and we can't believe how alike we are and we just click. The reason I am bringing this into the mix here is we are going to write a Journal together walking through the transformation of my home and life with Feng Shui. You have got to read her Curb Appeal post and all the rest so you get an idea of what makes Carole so special and how thrilled I am to have the opportunity to learn from her.
I would have never imagined my life taking the turns it is taking but it is all new to me and I love NEW. Changes turn me on and make me feel alive and if you are like me (and as old) big changes are fewer and farther between than they used to be, so when they appear and appear all at once I reach for the big jar of B-vitamins and cherish every moment.
Active Rain is fertile ground indeed. Plant your seeds and watch them grow.
