My owner is a Marketing & Business Consultant in San DiegoZoey the Cool Cat loves the early mornings around the house because the birds are chirping and flying around outside and the sun is shining in the windows.

There is a ledge outside the home office windows where a little lizard usually comes out to relax once the sun comes up.

For the past few days, the little lizard has been late, which causes Zoey the Cool Cat to strike this pose on one of the desks:

Where's my little lizard?

You can see the sadness on her face, wondering why her little lizard friend hasn't come out to play yet. She'll calmly sit there for about five minutes and then go check the ledge outside. If her little lizard friend's not there, she comes back to the same spot and strikes the same pose for another five minutes.

This goes on and on until her little lizard friend shows up or the sun goes to the other side of the building. Eventually, of course, her little lizard friend does arrive, and all is right with the world, but I don't look forward to the day when her little lizard friend bites the dust.

Very cute and funny post, Russel.  Cats are smart creatures.  I didn't realize this until I became a cat owner by default of having to adopt my daughter's cat.

Hi Russel-

Yes, they are so vigilant - just like us, waiting for an offer to come through. Re-checking the e-mail. Having coffee and posting on AR - re-checking the e-mail...

Russel,  This does not surprise me at all.  I recently learned that an important part of a cat is their social life.  They are interested in other cats, people, and other animals (even dogs).  Plus, Zoey seems to be a very intelligent cat.

That will be a difficult day indeed, Russell. With that warm San Diego weather, though, this may not happen for quite awhile.

We used to have a family of lizards that lived outside our office, and sunned on our step. I like lizards almost as much as cats. Cute photos.

Russel,

We had a cat adopt our family. She would go out in the morning and catch birds. She would then bring her "trophy" home and set it down at our feet to us so brag about what a great hunter she was.

Maybe you should get a pet lizard for Zoey to watch during the day!  Our cat likes to watch our fish.

Hi Russel,

Your Zoey is something else!  She is a smart little cookie!  When her little lizard friend bites the dust - you may have to adopt another kitty for her to play with.  That way she will have a little friend to pal around with when you are working & not at home.

Hi, Russel. I loved the lizard story. You sure enjoy Zoey.

When I lived in Vermont, I screwed a piece of carpeted board to the bedroom windowsill and stuck a lucite feeder to the outside of the window...the kind that has suction cups and is designed to do that. Every morning, my three Siamese sat there, bolt upright, watching the birds just inches away. I called it "Birdvision."

One day, I looked out the bathroom window and saw 40 wild turkeys under the hanging feeder in the pine tree, just outside. I got some more carpet and another piece of board and that became "The Avian Adventure Channel."

Hey, Folks.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I have read all the comments, but since this post is rather old, rather than making comments here in my post to each and every one of you, I'll just let everyone know that I have read all the comments and if there are any questions, I'll answer those below. Otherwise I'll simply post this comment and then head over to your blogs soon to visit and do some reading and commenting. I hope you'll have a nice welcome mat out for me!

Don't forget to let your cat come out to play with all the other ActiveRain kitties. Your cat-friendly dogs can come, too!

If you need a great cat book, get yourself a copy of Peg Silloway's The Cat Lover's Book of Days.

Hope all is well with everyone.
