My Laptop is Sick and So Am I!

By

We all spend a lot of time taking care of others.  Our children, our spouses, our parents, our friends, our clients, our pets.  We want everyone to be happy, or at least most of us do.  I recently read a post by Roger Mucci (great guy, go check out his blog) about the importance of taking care of ourselves.  Roger suggested that sometimes we need to slow down, relax and rejuvenate.  I have never been very good at taking care of myself, I'm busy, I have a lot to do...No time to just kick back and relax.  But Roger's post inspired me to take a day just for myself.  And I am in the process of planning that day, but, guess what? I waited too long, I'm exhausted and now I am being forced into kicking back...I'm sick :-( Here I am resting, but not quite what I had in mind for "My Day".  I was thinking about a pedicure, maybe a little shopping, lunch with my sister, a massage...Ahhhhh!  Not a stinking Summer Cold (I hope that's all it is).

Yesterday morning, my computer crashed...I guess I wasn't taking very good care of it either.  Again, I am too busy, just couldn't take the time to scan and update as I should, even tho' I know better.  I have been looking into Carbonite and external hard drives and....I Waited too long.  It seems my laptop was infected by a root kit worm!?  Whatever it was, it was nasty. Fortunately, I didn't lose everything and my laptop was released from the hospital just in time to make it to my lap as I plopped down on the sofa in my jammies earlier today with the rest of my "Sick Kit" in tow.

Are you taking care of yourself or are you like me...so busy taking care of everyone and everything else that you forget to relax? Do you neglect Yourself? I am going to really take it easy over the next couple of days so that I can be my best self soon.  I will try not to overdo it anymore, I will one day learn how to say NO!  I will also remember that I can't take care of everyone else if I don't take care of myself.  Yet Another lesson learned.

Blackberry, Laptop & Activerain, Water, Amish Macaroni Salad (love the stuff),

M & Ms, a good book, my favorite pillow & Blankie, & Dayquil....My "Sick Kit"

Amy:  Snuggle in, curl up, munch the M'n'M's, chow down on the Amish Macaroni Salad (I'd love to try it)... and you are so good... water along with it.  But, ok... what is the name of the book ?  My eyes have been straining trying to read the title, but it is just at a bad angle, and with light shining on it.  What't the title of the book ?  Just curious.

Anywho... get better... and YES... go get that pedicure.  I get one about every three months, and they are wonderful.  Take care...

By the way... I once had a friend named Wendy Wazinski... who got all excited when she saw they had named a candy after her... W'n'W's.  I felt so bad about breaking the news to her... so I didn't !  <smile>

Marian - Thanks Mom! I was really good, I drank lots of water, read a little, and will be at the office (for just a little while) today.

Thanks Cynthia - I will try really, really hard to never overdo it again.  I did spend a few minutes yesterday playing around with some different vacation ideas (thank goodness, my laptop was working).

Roger - NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO

Karen Anne - The book is "Writing Down the Bones".  Couldn't get into it tho'.  I was a little dopey from the Dayquil, So I re-read Dying for Chocolate and part of Cereal Murders (not too much thinking involved).  Oh, and the Amish Macoroni Salad is awesome...You must try it sometime!

Wendy Wazinski is so lucky to have a friend like you and so am I :-)

My computer crashed the other day too! I had to restore it to its original factory settings.....UGH!

Fortunately, I had performed a backup only a few days prior so i lost very little if anything.

Some good programs to consider Amy:

LastPass (online encrypted password manager) Never forget a password again.

XMarks (online bookmark saver) Never lose those either!

Picassa/ Flickr (online picture storage) Could you imagine how nuts I'd be had I lost my Photoshop creations?!!!

Oh Craig, I imagine that people all over the world would be mourning the loss of your photoshop creations.  Do you have an online backup or external hard drive?  Any input from you would be appreciated!  I'll have to check out LastPass, Thanks!

Amy:  There are only three possible cures for just about everything that ails you.  Chicken soup, chicken soup, chicken soup.  Take your pick !  <smile>  Hope you are feeling better.

Miss Amy:  I have been meaning to say this before, but I never think of it at the right time.  You and your mother seem to be so much more than Mother/Daughter... although that in itself is such a wonderful thing.  You seem to be "friends" as well.  Isn't it ironic that your name... 'Amy"... is an alternate spelling of the word "amie" which is French for "friend."  I am sure you know that already, but I just wanted to throw that out there... because it seems so obvious to me.

You are both very fortunate to have each other.  My Mom passed away in 1987.  Amy... hug her while she's here (not that she's going anywhere soon... LOL.  Lots.

Karen Anne - I woke up this morning with no fever.  I think I am on my way to recovery.  Just gotta remember to take it slow.

My mother is my best friend!  And when she walks in the office this morning, I'll give her a big hug.  Wish I could give you a big hug too...Well, consider this a virtual Hug!  You da best!

Now, Karen Anne, She was only here for about 5 minutes before I gave her a hug!  She's getting old, can't think clearly.  It's Really Sad... hehehe.

BTW - Who is that silly gal in the photo above?  Life is just way too short to not be goofy sometimes!

Amy:  I don't know WHO you are talking about, as far as being silly or goofy.  The young lady in the picture is one of my favorites, and just happens to be one of the prettiest and most charming of all those on Active Rain.  Maybe some day you'll get to meet her.  I just KNOW you'll like her.

Karen Anne,  I'm not so sure.  My Mama always told me the real test of a person's character is how they treat their mother.  That girl didn't even bother to hug her mom until you told her to.  HMMM

Amy:  I just don't get out much... LOL.  It's a much better way of living... being nice than being grouchy.  And heck, hugs to all three of you, Marian, Paula and yourself.

Marian:  Well... they say that forgetting to hug your mother is just the first step down the road.  Some girls are like that.  But... a late hug is better than no hug... I am here to tell ya'.  So rejoice in knowing that it appears that all three of you are living in your hugg'ville.  <smile>

Paula:  Cool picture of Amy, huh ?  It sounds like the three of you have a great office to work out of.  I am pleased for all of you.  Take care...
