Construction on Route 150

Construction Everywhere I go!

I know we are all experiencing it--everywhere we turn these days, roads are under construction!  When making an appointment, I want to say, "I will be arriving between 1 P.M. and 3 P.M, depending upon construction!"  Every time I leave my driveway, I have to plan which way to turn.  I have construction closing one road that leads out of our neighborhood and a bridge out that leads to Route 10!

Today I needed to run to Staples in Wallingford to get some blueprints copied.  I was within 1/4 mile of my destination when I discovered the road was completely blocked with construction!  In this part of the state, when you can't go one way, it takes creative thinking to find another way!  This detour took me 2.4 miles around!

When I finished up at Staples, I figured out how to get back to the office without running into construction--I took all back roads!  Much nicer . . .

This is More Like It!

"Putting Americans Back to Work" .... doing road work, sometimes even places where is isn't needed.  BUT it is high visibility .... wonder if its an election year?  Thanks for sharing ....  Great color in the photos ....

I'm glad to see people working - don't get me wrong!  It just gets to be a bit much when you never know when you are going to run into it.  This is a road that I travel all the time, and there was no warning that anything was coming.  Perhaps it was an emergency repair.  This is, it is normally a one-lane underpass, so it wasn't like they could close ONE of the lanes.  : )

See that top photo with the signs pointing one way for 71 North, and another going 71 South?  I remember a little 140 mile error I did one time, because I didn't know much about North and South.  I do now, and with the help of Magellan, I do just fine:-)

Hi Chris, I experienced this first hand in PA this past week. They had 1/2 the road closed for miles and they were working in only a very small section. Why they created this one hour delay is anyone guess.

Chris, I'm sorry you have to suffer through the road construction but I'm glad to know we're not the only ones going through it. Here in the Dallas area it's getting very old! And you're right, very time consuming! I wish I could agree with Jack's statement about putting American's back to work, but I don't see that to be true... maybe I'm just to close to the Mexican border.

Chris, that is a very pretty bridge, but just one lane, and limited height. The drive back should have eased the anxiety, however.

Myrl - Isn't it funny how stories like yours are considered "you'll laugh about it someday" stories.  Thank goodness for your Magellan!

William - Pennsylvania?  What was a San Diego Realtor doing in Pennsylvania!?  But at least you must be used to delays--Pennsylvania is usually such a nice place to drive.

Patricia - Around here it is Americans that are working.  : )  It is good to see, but bad to experience.

Hi Ed - Don't we have enough on our minds to think about without having to figure out how to get from Point A to Point B without Construction C?  : )  I love the back roads anyway, but it is tough to get to the Staples Plaza from that part of town without going through that overpass (especially interesting in the Winter when the huge icicles are hanging down--oh, I will have to be sure to get a shot of that during the winter!).

Chris - Country roads take me home ..... literally ..... living in the country certainly has its advantages ..... but even in the country there is road construction
