Unusual Fence and Wall in Central Austin

By

We were driving around Central Austin this past weekend when we got lost, then found something better than what we were trying to find.

The side street we pulled in to, right off of a busy feeder street (feeder onto the highway) had one of the more interesting fences I've seen recently in Austin.

The fence itself was a very busy custom job, small, tall overlapping metal rods, grooved to look like maybe a natural grass. The gate alone had to be an incredible amount of work for the artist.

To the right of the fence was a stone wall, providing some necessary buffering from the traffic noise of the traffic on the busy street.

I'm sharing them here for your enjoyment - in case you have someone looking for interesting ideas for an unusual way to fence off their own property.

Good Morning Orlando, the gate is excellent.  It wuld be a big project to construct.

Orlando - That's a very unusal, but cool fence and wall.  I especially like that gate.

Hey, Orlando - GREAT pictures.  There are similar fences in Santa Fe that are made out of actual wood that I have seen.  One of the things about AR that I love is the vision that people have to take pictures of things around them.  These are fantastic!  Thanks for sharing!

THat is definitely a very unique gate. With my clumsiness, I would get my clothes snagged on it each time I passed by with those pieces sticking out.

It really is an interesting gate and fence. Despite being fairly open, it provided quite a bit of privacy because the vertical pieces are so busy and wavy and overlapped.
