Today is World Tourism Day. Tourism is an important part of the economy in many countries. In fact, it is the main source of income in lesser developed countries along with their export of various crops for example, bananas, sugar, and cocoa to name a few.
A 2004 UN World Tourism Organization explained that "tourism can alleviate poverty through the creation of small and medium size tourism businesses". As it creates new jobs, it can raise "environmental, cultural and social awareness".
But touring our marvelous and beautiful earth and becoming acquainted with its wonders and its people, is an impressive achievement especially when one has planned and saved for a while.
