It might resemble the delightfully innovative storefront named Cork. Located in Uptown Dallas' West Village Neighborhood, Cork is a cute little spot where you can try dozens of wines before you buy. But, wait ... here's the high tech part: You receive a magnetic strip card to which you may add as much money as you like. Then, using state-of-the-art computer touchscreen stations, you are magically introduced to varieties of wines from vineyards across different regions. Information is programmed into each station so you can leisurely read about the featured wines and when you're ready -- select, swipe, and be served. A friendly, knowledgeable staff member cheerfully delivers your wine selection. One ounce tasting portions are a fabulous option -- and they allow you to sample before making the commitment to a full glass or bottle. Plus, wines are rotated regularly -- so you can come back again and never get bored!
Cork is also a full-service retail wine store and carries over 350 different wines and some selections of craft beer as well. In addition, a lovely appetizer and dessert menu is offered so you can order something to nibble on while you're sipping. A quaint, back room is available for private parties or meetings.
Now that's what I call wine tasting of the future.
