"We opened the gates to all the world...."

"We opened the gates to all the world and said: 'Let all men who want to be free come to us and they will be welcome.'  " ... Woodrow Wilson

View from Immigrant Point, SF Presidio

Etched in stone on the top of the wall at Immigrant Point in San Francisco's Presidio, you'll find this quote of Woodrow Wilson's. Re-affirming our country's dedication to freedom, this statement was part of Wilson's Address at Independence Hall on July 4, 1914 on "The Meaning of Liberty."

Sunset at Immigrant Point, Presidio, SF

Early morning, late afternoon, at sunset - each time of day casts it's spell. Here you'll see bicyclists, motorists, hikers and trail runner; tourists and residents, school groups camping at nearby Rob Hill Campground.

Sunset, Immigrant Point, SF

Immigrant Point speaks to many. The view of the entrance to the Golden Gate is world-class; the setting gorgeous. It is a special place, one of my two favorite Presidio destinations. Now that I have read Woodrow Wilson's "The Meaning of Liberty" it will have a more powerful tug on my heart than ever.

"We opened the gates to all the world and said: 'Let all men who want to be free come to us and they will be welcome.'"
