Max's Wine Dive "Foodie" Friday ~ 11/25/16

I'm sure you've enjoyed the turkey, stuffing, sides and gravy and are ready to wait on the leftovers for another day. By later today you'll be asking who is cooking? Why not let someone else do the cooking tonight? Load up the car with family and friends and head downtown Austin to San Jacinto for a night out (you deserve it after all that cooking!) You'll be glad you did..take in the sights and sound of the holiday season!

MAX’S WINE DIVE                  http://www.maxswinedive.com/

Located in a refurbished warehouse, Max’s Wine Dive quickly became a hot spot when it opened in 2009.  It’s a laid back restaurant with an industrial feel serving high quality, gourmet comfort food with an incredible wine program with selections from around the world along with some that can’t be find anywhere else…all served in a down to earth, rock and roll style. And, they double as a wine store, so if you like the wine you’re having with dinner, ask for a bottle to bring home for later!  Max’s is fun, funky and eclectic.

Half of their menu has the Wine Dive Classics that can be found at all Max’s Wine Dive restaurants.  The other half has seasonal changes that are unique to each location with the Chef’s creative use of local ingredients.  Here is a sample of what you’ll find at Max’s…on the Shareable menu – try the Wine Dive Bison Sliders or some Belly Bites made with house-roasted pork belly bites finished with a rum demi-glaze served with apple bacon jam.  On the main menu you might want to try Max’s Famous Southern Fried Chicken made with  jalapeno-buttermilk marinated chicken and served with mashed potatoes, collard greens and Texas toast along with chipotle honey… or how about Max’s Signature Burger which is a blend of Angus-short rib, brisket, chuck and beef belly served on a brioche bun with bibb lettuce, hot house tomatoes, red onion and house-made pickles with a side of Wine Dive frites and house made pickled jalapeños.  Yummy!

When it’s time for dessert how about the Orange-Amaretto brownie made with dark chocolate batter with an orange-cream cheese swirl, Marcona almonds, orange-amaretto ice cream and chocolate ganache?  Whatever you decide, you are invited to “come in, grab some wine and rock out to the jukebox as we serve you up a meal you won’t forget!”

Here is a video about Max’s…enjoy:

Dorie Dillard I must tell you that after the abuse I put my body through yesterday, I don't think I can handle any more food. Um...Orange-Amaretto Brownie did you say?

I haven't heard of Max's in my travels to Austin but it is not the kind of food I eat. However, there are those occasional cravings for comfort food especially when you are feeling blue, and this would satisfy the craving.

Good morning, Dorie -- I checked out the video and the website for Max's Wine Dive.  My food vote is for the lobster risotto.   I see they have some locations outside Texas -- it's definitely time for a spot in California -- may I suggest the Pasadena/Los Angeles area?

Okay after looking at that video I want it all the Tuna Tartar and the list goes on and on. Since I do make a killer risotto that would not be my choice like Michael Jacobs  for me it would have to be the fried chicken since I do not do any frying at home:))Endre

Hi Dorie-I didn't have to read far to know what I would have...the fried chicken.  Austin has such wonderful restaurants.
