I found information on the Seller by Googling them!
With so much information found on the Internet buyers and sellers are now Googling to find out as much about the other as they can before they move forward with a transaction. Will this information help you make an offer? Or will it make you feel differently about this buyer/seller?
In a seller's market where there are multiple offers in the first couple days, it is not about the Seller, it is about the market and how much a buyer feels the home is worth after reviewing the comparables. If a buyer focuses too much attention on the Seller, they will lose sight of the goal in mind. (The only exception to this is if the property has been a part of criminal activity.)
After a buyer secures an accepted offer, it is nice to know something about the property and the owners. Usually at the inspection it is nice to see if the neighbors are out and about and find out about the neighborhood. I have a Buyer under contract right now, and the Seller is roaming Costa Rica and has been tough to get signatures from, and now has extended closing due to the inability to be near a town for a POA or a mail-out. Not sure why the Seller (or the listing agent) did not think of that when they accepted our offer closing in June. Now the Buyer wants to know more about the Seller, and has Googled to find out more about this Seller.
I would hate to see a buyer lose a home of their dreams due to the thought of a seller making too much money. Does the background of the Buyer or Seller have anything to do with accepting their offer? It is irrelevant, if you love the home and can see yourself living there, BUY IT!
