Motivational Monday…My Motivation
The boxes are unpacked (almost) and I can tell you that while I miss the Florida beaches and our friends there, there is no doubt in my mind that moving back to Houston was the right thing to do.
The reason we moved was to be closer to our family. If you’re lucky enough to have family near you, cherish each day that you are with them. They don’t have to be family by blood but can be your extended family, much like we were lucky enough to have in Florida.
Just part of my family last Thanksgiving. |
So now, instead of being 1200 miles from my family, I am but 8 minutes away from my brother. Tonight we were able to have an impromptu dinner with them and their daughter and her family.
If you are lucky enough to live close to your family, never take it for granted. If they are cities or states away, I encourage you to do everything within your power to keep in touch with them and see them.
And if there is no family around, create your own! Much as we’d like to think we can be that lone island we are all social beings.
Find those people who will be there when you need them...the ones who you would go to the ends of the earth for...the ones who you do not need to impress, who would care for you no matter what.
You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them. Desmond Tutu
