Thankful Thursdays...For the Changing Seasons
For the last 30 or so years, Larry and I have lived in South Florida. Rarely did it get cold enough for a coat and the only leaves falling were large palm fronds.
So many of the people I met missed the change in seasons when they lived or visited Delray Beach. Oh once in a while during the Christmas season when I watched a holiday movie or saw the news showing Christmas shoppers in the snow, I thought it would be nice to have a bit of a change.
Now that we’re back in Houston where there is somewhat of a change in seasons I have actually learned to appreciate it. This past spring it was fun seeing pops of color as trees came alive with leaves and small flowers showed up on bushes.
And now that we are morphing from Fall to Winter and the leaves have fallen I get to see...high in the trees....the nests of squirrels. Under large oak trees, the ground is littered with acorns.
Just a few weeks ago on our morning walk, the sun was shining through the trees and we walked through a beautiful arch of reds and oranges.
While I do miss the tropical temps of Delray Beach, I am grateful for the beauty that comes with the changing seasons.
