We become like the people we associate with. No matter what your desire for success is if you associate with the wrong people, you will continually be pulled away from the goals you want to achieve.

 

Are you a...

1. Drama Queen... These are the agents that blow everything out of proportion. They make "not a big deal" into major issues and oftentimes cause themselves and others unnecessary stress and anxiety.

2. Gossiper... Gossipers usually correlate with the drama queens to form one hell of a soap opera. "Did you hear about what Mary did last weekend at her Open House to Sue's buyer"?

3. A Sneaky Rat... These are the agents that stop at nothing to get a deal, they have no integrity and no ethics.

4. An Egomaniac... Also referred to as "Know it alls". These agents can be very annoying because 9 times out of 10 they come up short.

5. Negative Nancy... The sky is falling, the sky is falling! The market is terrible! The buyers don't need us anymore. Nobody wants to buy or sell right now! The real estate business is going down the drain. These people are negative and you should stay away from them, or they will drag you down the drain with them. 

6. A Superstar... These are the agents who everyone wants to "be" like. These are the agents who listen to their coaches, follow their schedule, track their number, and do 80-90% of everything they are supposed to do. Without question, these agents are the agents that buyers and sellers seek to represent them with their real estate transactions.

Hi Beth and Richard Witt - Great post and so accurate! 

Before going on my own, I worked with an agent as a transaction coordinator. Without getting too specific, we had a long relationship.  Once this person realized I was the competition, her "friendship" changed dramatically and I started to peel back the onion on her true self.  Other agents and brokers thought I was part of her team and I distanced myself from this person.  I finally moved out of the brokerage because it was becoming way to toxic for me to deal with. 

Fortunately, I have been able to define myself with other people, and vendors in our industry.  I did everything I could to move out of that awful shadow.

Great post and so very true! I stay away from negativity.  I want to always be heading upwards where success and greatness is, the only reason you should be looking down is when you're reaching for the hand of another to help them.
