August AR Challenge Part 2: Bait Your Own Hook!
As avid fisherpeople, we are often in the middle of the lake at the first sign of daylight. One morning while baiting and casting, the boat sprung a leak. Quick thinking kept it from sinking! Taking a tube of super glue used for making lures, I cut the flap off my leather purse, squeezed some glue on it, placed it over the hole. It instantly sealed and we kept right on fishing.
As if that wasn't fantastical enough! For the weekend, we took my dad fishing to a favorite spot, Catfish Lake. While reaching to pull a record size, jumbo, 37-pound whiskerfish into the boat from the murky depths, his top denture fell from his mouth into the water. Thinking it was gone forever, until two days later, when he caught the very fish that had swallowed it!
Then, there was the time we chartered a 45-foot tuna boat, ending up in shark infested waters off the coast of Bermuda...Okay, okay, I admit we were never there by sea or sky! Those events didn't happen and my dad doesn't wear dentures but they are amazing fishing lies tales!
Bait your own hook
Clean your own fish
And
Tell your own lies tales...
I've got my own stories to share!
Fishing season is still swimmingly alive here in southern Utah. Our schedules have prevented us form getting to the lake much this year. If fishing is your sport, there are several fishing spots within 30 minutes.
As a family, we often spent weekends at the lake or with a large group of people, catching crawdads at the shoreline, anchoring the boat in a hot spot for the day or many evenings spent night fishing on the bank. Some of those memories have become the most cherished.
From stories of the elusive ones that got away, to the fight in reeling in a feisty fish, you can bet the lies tall tales will go into the memory banks, then shared with those who appreciate or can top them.
Happy Fishing All!
