We have always loved to work in our yard and create beautiful landscapes. When we decided to move to Goodyear, AZ., we were not sure how we would adapt. It turns out that we have adapted quite well, as long as, we have really good gloves. It seems like most plants here have something sharp on them.
The first two plants that we added to our yard were a Barrel Cactus and the floppy cactus pictured above. The floppy cactus just took off and look at all of those beautiful blossoms. We have had over 25 flowers this year. The only downside is that the rabbits love to eat the flowers.
The blooms only last for a day, so when I see the rabbits commit their dirty deeds, I understand Elmer Fudd so much better...Kill the Wabbit! ! ! Look at the little guy. He seems to be mocking me. 😳
Next on our list was a Meyer's lemon bush. It is not like we really need one. When you drive through PebbleCreek, people leave bags of all kinds of citrus out in boxes and bags. It is all free for the taking. Look at just the partial bounty that I collected this year.
I can't wait for next year's crop to come in, though. There is nothing like a fresh Meyer's Lemon.
We could not go without some Bougainvillea, so we planted some along our fence line. It turns out that it is a little messy, but it is sure beautiful!
One of the nice surprises has been the Lantana plants that were already in the yard. They bloomed prolifically this year and added another pop of color to our yard.
The same thing can be said for our Dwarf Bottle Brush Bushes. Our little neighbor likes it, too!
We have enjoyed putting our own personal touch to the yard. There are a few more things that I would like to add to the yard, such as this floppy cactus that is in my neighbor's yard.
If we had room, I think we would add a Saguaro Cactus, too. Ha! That is a thought that I never believed would enter into my head, but at the right time, they are beautiful.
Thank you for this month's challenge, Debe Maxwell, CRS. I think we will bring a little beauty to the world this month.
