Sundays - Sorry, the Bluebirds Have Flown the Coop
We enjoyed watching the bluebird parents feeding their little ones and hovering, night and day, protecting them. The past few days, we've been watching the racoons checking out the empty nest.
While we know they were hoping to nab a few beautiful birds for dinner, we still love watching them; their markings are textbook racoons and they are cute creatures! Can you spot our visitor?

My parents finally landed here in NC and within about a year and a half, my Dad was moved to Georgia. I grew up in a military family and when we landed in NC, I was a sophomore and by my junior year, I was being recruited to play basketball for several different colleges. My coach begged my parents to allow him to find a 'host' family and let me finish out high school here in NC, about an hour away from Charlotte. In keeping with Charlotte's cat theme (Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Bobcats, CATS [Charlotte Area Transit System]), the light rail, LYNX has become our new favorite means of transportation in the city! Connectivity is key (hence the name, LYNX) in getting the city's south end transported into the city during rush hours.

The Wall Street firm, UBS Securities, reports that Charlotte's housing market could be among the first market to bounce back. Analysts examined 13 regions, taking into consideration demographics, housing inventory, affordability and other economic factors. Population and job/economic growth helped push Charlotte to the top of the list. Some of the big bank job losses are a concern but, all things considered, growth continues to move upwards.

S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices released today show Charlotte as the sole metro area to see 1Q home-price gains: Charlotte was the only U.S. metropolitan area to record a first-quarter gain in housing prices among the 20 markets tracked by Standard & Poor's and Case-Shiller. The year-over-year price of existing single-family homes in Charlotte rose 0.8% in the latest reported quarter, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index.
