Conveniently located just off of State Road 49 in Chesterton, Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve is both an amazingly peaceful spot for a picnic or a nature walk and a nature photographers paradise. Carefully planted with native foliage and wildflowers, it is also sprinkled with genius landscaping, rockscaping and engineered structures that include bridges, waterfalls, ponds and walking paths. The main structural showpiece is an outdoor ampitheater that offers incorporated leveled seating and sits above the largest and most breathtaking waterfall in the preserve.

Once a year, Downtown Valparaiso closes down Lincolnway (our main thoroughfare) between Michigan and Lafayette streets to create a 'kid-safe zone'. In this zone, they offer Trick-or-Treating, cider, hayrides around the square and other fun family activities. This is a good opportunity to not only stretch out you Halloween celebrations, but also to familiarize yourself with our great downtown businesses. You are guaranteed that your children are safe from oncoming cars as traffic is prohibited during this time. Real Estate is a service oriented business. Whether you are a Realtor, Mortgage broker, Stager, or otherwise, there is a certain amount of personal service that goes into the job - no matter how far removed you are from the clients themselves. Well, I haven't been around much lately. I've stopped in to comment a little, but have not been blogging or participating as much as usual. I also have not been staging for over a week. Why, you ask? Last week, I took some 'time off' to design part of the set for my daughter's summer production for 'Annie'. I was in charge of Miss Hannigan's room and had the difficult (for me) task of creating a gaudy boudoir for the tramp-in-charge. The day before Valentine's, everything has come to a halt in Northwest indiana. School is cancelled, agents can't get to their offices (only one I talked to today was actually in the office) and the presentation we had this morning is rescheduled for next week. It started snowing last night and has not let up since. Predictions range from six to 8 inches, but this is the land of the drift and the pile of snow on my patio table measures 14 inches. Thai restaurants are not common in Northwest Indiana. As a matter of fact, if there is more than one, I would like to know about it, as Thai is my absolute favorite cuisine. Until my husband and I discovered Taste of Thailand in Chesterton, we simply went into Chicago for our Thai fix. Now we head to Chesterton whenever possible. Why is this the only franchise I will ever review? I'm not a big fan franchises, so I try to not to eat at them. I love the uniqueness of independent restaurants and make it a rule to not eat at a place I can find at home when I am out of town. Example - why ,when I am in downtown Chicago, would I go for pizza at Uno's when I can eat at Lou Malnatti's instead? But, I digress...
