austin chamber of commerce: Learning inspires me.....Knowlege itself is power - 12/06/18 01:41 PM
I'm so glad that Carol Williams is hosting the December Challenge  to share a quote that inspires us. After an informative luncheon this past Thursday put on by the Austin Chamber for the Austin businesses and policy leaders I thought of a Zig Ziglar quote that resonates with me. "You can make positive deposits in your own economy every day by reading and listening to powerful, positive life-changing content and by associating with and encouraging hope-building people." What a great few hours of learning and grasping the concept of powering forward in an Age of Disruption.
Continuing education and forums like this inspire me. Its so … (21 comments)

austin chamber of commerce: How well do you know Austin? - 08/03/17 09:04 AM
Austin has been in the news a lot in the last 10 years because of the explosion in our population and job creation. Recently while participating in the Platinum Top 50 Roundtable discussion on Austin and what’s going on around the country we learned some interesting facts about Austin according to the Austin Chamber of Commerce:
The number of jobs created since 2004 is 356,200. From June 2016 to June 2017 Austin added 28,000 net new jobs making Austin #17 fastest growing major Metro. Opportunity Austin is a five year, five county economic development initiative aimed at fostering job-creating investment in … (12 comments)

austin chamber of commerce: No more is Austin a needle in the haystack! - 11/12/14 03:44 AM
No more is Austin a needle in the haystack!

For years companies and consumers have been discovering Austin; one by one...like finding a needle in a haystack. Once our City of Austin government and Austin Chamber of Commerce made a commitment to actively focus on growth and tout to the world the quality of life in Austin...it all changed!

The Austin Chamber hosted the first ever Regional Mayors Summit to 500 attendees from area businesses and the greater Austin Community. I was honored to be invited to attend the summit through one of the reception sponsors, Independence Title. It was held at the Renaissance Hotel at the Arboretum (a short walk from my office) Friday April 19, 2013.
John Garrett from the Community Impact Newspaper was the moderator for the three mayoral speakers: City of Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell, City of Round Rock Mayor Alan McGraw and City of San Marcus Mayor Daniel Guerrero.

They each had time … (17 comments)

austin chamber of commerce: Water Treatment Plant #4 in Austin ~ Let's Move Forward - 10/14/09 08:56 AM

In 1983 Austin approved bonds for Austin Water Treatment Plant #4.  Over 25 years later we still have not moved forward!  Austin has two functioning water treatment plants that are 50 years old.  The cost of construction would be less than in 2 years and would increase employment now for Austin workers.  The Austin Chamber of Commerce has worked hard to bring companies to Austin and they are concerned that our resources are limited.
Plant #4 will be built on a 92 acre tract in northwest Austin at the southwest corner of FM 620 and Bullick Hollow Road.  Tuesday … (0 comments)
