family: Embracing Gratitude: Celebrating My Exceptional Daughter-in-Law, Erika - 11/06/23 04:22 PM
Erika is currently training for the Marathon: Mountains 2 Beach in Ojai, California, scheduled for April 28, 2024. She's participating in a series of races as part of her warm-up, according to her trainer; including the Half Marathon 3M Race on January 21st in Austin. These races are all part of her preparation for the upcoming Marathon.
I want to express my deep gratitude to Erika for being an essential part of our immediate family and an important figure in my life and our extended family. Her presence enriches our lives, and we cherish the moments we share as one united family. … (29 comments)

family: Tuesday's Treasures ~ Winner...Winner… Who’s the Winner? - 07/10/23 09:10 AM
Over the week-end I went to Beautiful Beckett and Handsome Hudson’s house to swim and enjoy some BBQ. We always make time to play cards….this time it was “Old Maid” and we roped Aunt Melissa into playing! It was a good game with none of us getting many matches and the Old Maid card kept making its rounds!
When it was all said and done Aunt Melissa won!

family: Tuesday's Treasures ~ A Tradition Continues - 11/22/22 02:49 AM
My mother was a Home Economics teacher (do they even have those now?) and she taught kids how to bake, plan menus, make budgets, balance a checkbook and other life skills. I always loved the French bread she made and still make it for my family and friends.
Last Christmas I showed my two older granddaughters how to make French bread and yesterday afternoon I helped Beautiful Beckett make her first two loves!
She loves to bake and she is the one who wants to open a bakery called Miss Queen Bees. At 8 years old she is getting a good start … (19 comments)

family: Serendipity Sundays ~ Grand-daughters Love - 12/27/20 10:59 AM
2020 was quite a year! Despite the challenges there were many blessings as it gave us a time for refection on what is important. I'm blessed to have my family live close in the same town and we are all in the same bubble.
My granddaughters are truly a blessing and I love them more than they can imagine. Christmas Day 2020 ♥♥

December is flying by! I went to a  dear colleague and friends 70th birthday party put on by his children.
Delivering Poinsettias to clients was so much fun and watching Clemson annihilate Virginia was quite the sight!
I went on a listing appointment and also made our Coldwell Banker Regional Christmas party at The Oasis.
I stopped by to visit my Geno, place a Christmas wreath at his resting place and tell him about what I've been doing. Many days are a challenge but I feel signs that he is my guardian angel. I'm off to the dentist this morning and will be glad when this appointment is over.

There are so many apps out now making photo-taking fun and creative. One App called Waterlogue produces a water color photo. Son and his family were having fun and I love this one they took! Of course Beautiful Beckett had to show her streak of independence.. love this about her! See the world like an artist..so many fun renderings to create.

family: Serendipity Sundays ~ Happiness - 08/04/19 04:10 PM
Some days are better than others but this day just a week ago was a happy one. I'm counting our blessings each day we have my Geno with us. Some personalities that are larger than life never fade even when we find our bodies giving out. Look at that smile on my Geno's face..it tells the whole story.

family: Thankful Thursdays ~ Family - 07/22/19 06:29 AM
As many of you know Geno has been having a rough time with his Congestive Heart failure and COPD. There are some days when he has enough strength we like to get him out and take advantage of time with family outside the home.

It's the middle of July! How can that be? Austin's weather was sunny and warm, the kids came over for an UNO challenge on their way to a birthday party, of course Hudson was the big winner! I was able to get Geno out for oysters and use the new wheelchair lift for the car. Glad to see he rallied some this week-end.
My new listing is under contract and inspections are scheduled for this morning. I met with my sellers who are moving this week, getting their home ready for staging and photos next week. It's a great single story!

family: Thankful for sons and grandsons - 11/12/18 02:08 PM

As many of you know Geno has endured his share of trials and tribulations with breaking his leg which then triggered a COPD attack causing him to land in the heart hospital four days. He's been doing better with physical therapists and nurses coming in and out. We went to the vein clinic on Monday but because there was so much fluid on the right leg they couldn't find his veins. We were sent home to put on compression hose and started full force with the diuretics. He has been wearing them dutifully and the swelling has gone down considerably.
Last week-end son John and grandson Handsome … (20 comments)

(Not so) Wordless Wednesday ~ Like Leaping Lizards I Can Fly
Labor Day weekend our kids and grandkids gathered at our house for a BBQ and fun in the pool (before the fires started in a nearby community).  Our granddaughter who is attending cheer camp decided to try out one of her moves while diving into the center of the brightly colored tube that was the hit of the afternoon.  Our daughter always finds something new that makes a big splash with all the kids.  Like Leaping Lizards she can fly!

family: Sisters ~ A quiet moment - 12/28/10 11:38 PM
After the Christmas presents were opened and dinner was devoured the afternoon slowly began winding down.  It was chilly outside and our two granddaughters were mellowing out and enjoying the warmth of the fire.  I guess I'll always remember this quiet moment I saw them sharing.
It made me reflect on Amy Li's quote:
"Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of.  You know whatever you do, they'll still be there."

family: Do you have a pickle ornament for your Christmas tree in your family? - 12/27/10 11:19 PM
Do you have a pickle ornament for your Christmas tree in your family?  I know you are probably saying a what?? I'm talking about a green shiny ornament shaped like a pickle.
Several years ago I blogged about "The simple joys of Christmas" and explained a ritual we started when the grandkids were small.  A friend told me about a German tradition (my mom is part German so I figured what the heck!).  I looked in several stores and Christmas shows until I found a green shiny pickle ornament.
The tradition began once I had one in hand.  On Christmas after … (32 comments)

family: Happy Thanksgiving From Our House To Yours - 11/24/10 11:24 PM
As tradition would have it Thanksgiving falls on the 4th Thursday in November.  Although the precise origin of the holiday is disputed it really doesn't  matter as it is a holiday to enjoy with family and friends.  Gene and I would  like to extend our very best wishes for a bountiful harvest for all.  We are thankful for our family, health and prosperity.
We know and appreciate how truly blessed we are and wish to say thank you for allowing us to share our lives with you this past year.

family: It's nice to be remembered - 11/22/10 06:44 AM
The other day I had a call from a couple I sold a home to 19 years ago!  I remember them well as their sale happened in my first year in Real Estate.  They fell in love with a property across from a park and have been very happy with their home.
I have chatted with them over the years, helping them fight their tax appraisals and sent calendars and Christmas cards throughout the years.  They are now 80 and need to move closer to family so they called me to come take care of selling their home.
I smiled and thought this … (16 comments)

family: The Be Thankful Challenge - 11/07/10 12:04 AM
Okay here is post #4 for my continued quest to highlight thankful things in my life.  I am blessed to have an older sister and younger brother (yes I am the middle child).
My brother is married to a crazy gal, Kathy, who when she and Geno get together...stand by (just ask Kathy about the bongo drums)!  They have two grown children.
My sister is a widow, has 2 children and is enjoying much excitement  in her life right now, but that is a whole other blog!
I am very thankful to have them in my life!

family: The Be Thankful Challenge - 11/06/10 01:38 AM
Joni Staples got me started after reading her post she wrote about accepting the challenge when she read Lisa Lambert and Donna Foresters posts!  A post a day on something we are thankful for is the quest!  No points just a challenge to remind us of our bounty in life.

At the top of my hit parade are our darling 5 grandchildren!  From ages fourteen to nine our energetic angels are growing up and blessing us each day with their creativity and boundless zest for life.  I am grateful each day … (26 comments)

family: The Be Thankful Challenge - 11/05/10 10:19 AM
I'm getting in the swing of  "the be thankful challenge"!  I have a daughter, Melissa, a son John and a stepson Jeff.  All are very important to me.  Melissa was my first born child and John was the baby, Jeff came into the fold later in life.
Rose Kennedy's quote sums up my outlook on motherhood:
"I look on child-rearing not only as a work of  love and duty, but, as a profession that was fully as interesting and challenging as any honorable profession in the world and one that demanded the best I could bring to it."

family: The Be Thankful Challenge - 11/04/10 06:43 AM
This morning while catching up on some posts my friends wrote, I caught Joni Staples post!  She ran across the night before two posts by Lisa Lambert and Donna Foresters concerning making a challenge to write a post on something we are thankful for everyday (starting today) until Thanksgiving!
Then what fun we will have sharing our grateful ideas with family and friends!  No points, just a wonderful feeling to really express our love and joy in celebrating "Thanksgiving"!

family: Friday Foto's ~ If Only The Fountain Could Talk - 09/17/10 12:12 AM

My nephew's wedding day was last weekend on Sept.11th.  We stayed in the Marriott Hotel in Cranberry Woods Township in north Pittsburgh as the wedding reception was being held in the ball room.
In the center of the lobby a magnificent fountain was enjoyed by many guests sitting and talking waiting for the events to begin.  Oh, can you imagine the secrets this fountain has learned....of all the private conversations it has heard...Huummmm!
