Is Wall Street our Drug Addicted Child? My Thoughts on Government Bailout! - 09/30/08 10:21 AM
I find myself feeling very frustrated with this government bailout that is being proposed. My parents raised me to believe that hard work and good character were the two most important aspects of business. I try REALLY hard to implement both of those qualities. Then I see that our government wants to reward greedy people who knew what they were doing when they set up these companies to fail. They would be rewarded in the form of a bailout. I have a real problem with this. These companies should not be bailed out. In my opinion, a government bailout would NOT (2 comments)
Nashville Just Declared to Be in the Top 10 Cheapest Cities to Own a Home! - 09/29/08 10:25 PM
That's right. Nashville, TN has been hailed as one of the top 10 cheapest cities to own a home in! I saw this report on the Realtor.org website - apparently this report was researched by Forbes and they got their information from the 2008 Census Survey. My boyfriend has been telling me for a long time now how cheap it is to live in Nashville. He has lived all over - New York City, San Diego, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and now Nashville. The reason he has STAYED in Nashville is because it is a great little city that is VERY (1 comments)

Nashville Restaurant Goers, Have you Tried Sportsman's Lodge Just Down from Hillsboro Village? - 09/27/08 10:28 PM
Near the corner of Wedgewood/Blakemore Aves and 21st Ave is one of Nashville's finest establishments: Sportsman's Lodge. Now granted, you have to be wanting food that is, um, "not so good for you", shall we say - or at least that's what the best food at Sportman's Grille is. Just down the street from Hillsboro Village is fantastic corn bread, red beans and rice, catfish dinners, handcut french fries, yummy juicy big burgers and a lodge-like environment.
The lodge-like environment makes you wish you were sitting down to a meal after a long day of hiking and fishing (or (0 comments)
Ease Your Lunchtime Hunger Pangs at Caesar's Restaurant in West Nashville! - 09/27/08 10:14 PM
It's inevitable: I have been up working for a while and it hits me. Those lunchtime hunger pangs. Those "I can't go on if I don't have FFFOOOOOODDDD" feelings. Well, Nashville, if you're near White Bridge Road near West End, then pop in to Caesar's Italian Restaurant where you can get TWO buffets plus two soft drinks for $12.48 (with your Clipper Magazine coupon, that is)! It's kind of tricky to find - not obvious at first. Look for the Target, Stein Mart and the Office Max. Caesar's is to the right of the Office Max in the corner of Lion's Head (0 comments)
Remodeling my Potting Shed in Nashville's Oak Hill, Part I - 09/27/08 09:55 PM
I live in the Oak Hill subdivision of Nashville Tn, close to David Lipscomb University. My Davidson County house was built in the 1940's. A lot of the homes in my neighborhood and on Glendale Lane have small barns and/or potting sheds in the backyard. Because my Glendale Lane home is an older one, there are a LOT of projects that I have been wanting to do. One of these "fixing up" projects was to paint my house. Well, that has turned out to be the easiest of the projects, although I can't say that painting the house was any fun. (0 comments)

Mere Bulles Restaurant in Brentwood, TN nothing but a Southern delight! - 09/24/08 10:26 AM
I had the distinct pleasure of teaching a blogging class at Mere Bulles last week. Located at 5201 Maryland Way in Brentwood, TN, ( 37027 ) Mere Bulles gives an upscale Southern dining experience to anyone who eats there! As soon as you arrive, the elegant Southern-Plantation-like House welcomes you. It's huge front porch and its Southern charm interior really make you want to stay awhile!
The lunch menu ranges in price from a salad for $6.99 on up to a filet mignon for $17.99. I had fruit tea (always a plus for this southern girl), a salad, the Charleston (4 comments)
Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch and AIG: What they Have in Common - 09/17/08 09:10 AM
We have all heard the buzz around the sinking of the great Lehman Brothers ship this week. The overzealous news reporters are calling it "Black Monday". As in, get ready to stand in the breadlines again, folks! Well, as Bank of America throws a lifejacket to Merrill Lynch and AIG struggles to find a way to keep its head above water, we at least need to ask why did this happen? And what does it mean to us in Nashville, TN? What does it mean to buyers looking for a home loan in Davidson County? Are we all in for some (3 comments)
The Word about the new Whitney Condo Complex in Nashville's Green Hills is DETAILS! - 09/16/08 01:21 PM
Today I took a tour of the new Whitney Condo Complex in Green Hills. Located in the 37215 zip code of Nashville, the builder for these gorgeous condos spared no expense. Every detail was perfect. And, of course, it really should be, given the listing price range of $634,000 to $1,128,000. So let me give you a sneak peek of what you will find when you visit:
Covered parking garage, wrought iron balcony, very grand entrance to the building. Right from the start, you notice the details:

We Heard the Bad News, Now Here's the Good News for Nashville Home Buyers! - 09/16/08 12:46 PM
Last night, I watched the National Evening News and it seemed almost surreal as they were describing the three big companies falling apart. The DOW dropped 504 points and they were talking about long term recovery issues. STOCK MARKET CRASH!!!! <p> I could not help but think to myself that really this does not affect me very much. I will still get up and go to work the next day and continue to do so probably until I am dead. It won't keep me from leaving some money in stocks and maybe even buying some now. (Buy low, sell high). <p> (0 comments)

My Wiener Dog Wants to Know... - 09/11/08 08:24 PM
"WHY ARE YOU GONE SO MUCH NOW!?!?!?!" This little wiener dog, Charisma by name, is the center of my universe. She was my first canine out of college and has been with me for almost 12 years now. She has been through a marriage (mine, not hers), a divorce (also mine), four different houses, and has out-lived her companion and cohort "Tadpole the Wiener Dog" by almost two years. (Tadpole pictured below - we miss you buddy!)
But since I joined ActiveRain, Charisma has a new complaint: I am NEVER home because I am so busy with WORK!!! ActiveRain and (10 comments)
Looking for Mexican Food in Downtown Nashville? How about Fiesta Mexicana! - 09/04/08 10:20 AM
If you are in the mood for some Mexican food, why not try Fiesta Mexicana? Located at 416 4th Avenue South in the 37201 zip code of Downtown Nashville, Fiesta Mexicana is serving up Mexican food for lunch and dinner every day! I have to admit that I have had some great meals at Fiesta Mexicana and some not so great meals there. The fajitas were very good, the queso is great and I liked the rather mild salsa (too hot is not good for me). Also the servers were very courteous and helpful and it is great to sit outside (0 comments)

Nashville's Night Out - Patron's Party at the Parthenon Raising Money for New Orleans! - 09/03/08 03:02 PM
WARNING, WARNING, WARNING: This blog entry is going to be LONG (for me) and potentially extremely heartfelt!!! New Orleans, Louisiana is a place that is close to my heart. I went to college in Louisiana - not in New Orleans - but in Shreveport, the northwest corner of Louisiana. Louisiana folks would say that Shreveport is more like Texas because of its close proximity to the Texas border and its location which is several hours away from New Orleans. For me, however, Shreveport was a COMPLETELY different world after having grown up in Nashville, Tennessee. Nashville is fairly liberal (don't knock (0 comments)
