Speechless Sunday-Angel's Landing in Zion National Park - 01/30/11 12:22 AM
My family hiked up to Angel's Landing in Zion National Park in the fall of 2009.  The last leg of the hike is to climb along the mountainside holding onto nothing but a chain railing. The elevation at the top is 5700 ft.   I'm not that brave, so my 10 year old and I stayed on safe ground while the rest of my family climbed to the top. You can see there's only room for one way traffic, so occassionally someone has to let go so that the other side can pass.  Too scary for me!

Don Pedro's Family Mexican Restaurant in Washington Utah is my favorite place to go for a delicious mexican meal. They're conveniently located at 1004 W. Red Cliffs Dr., which is across the street from Albertson's Grocery store.  The atmosphere is bright and cheery, the staff is very friendly and accomodating and the aroma of great food greets you at the door.
           
They always have a daily special to choose from, but my favorite is their beef burrito.  It's served with, of course, spanish rice and refried beans.  They keep the chips and salsa bowls full throughout your meal too.  … (4 comments)

I was running through some family photos this morning on my computer and came across this one of my crazy daughter!  We were in a local park a couple of years ago and she decided to act like she was on an adventure, scouting for something or other. Early Morning in Zion National Park-Weeping Rock - 01/25/11 08:16 PM
I took this photo last summer from the Weeping Rock trail in Zion National Park.  My family arrived early in the park that morning and this was the first stop we made.   I love the shadows and the crystal blue azure sky. Weeping Rock is a pretty easy hike. It's fun when you reach the top and see the water seeping and dripping from the rocks.

This is a little known waterfall hidden away in Zion National Park.  It's actually classified as "back country" although it's not really that difficult to hike into.  After a long hot day of hiking in Zion, it's nice to take a few minutes and cool off in this private waterfall and pool.

The St. George Winter Bird Festival begins Thursday January 27 and continues through Sunday, January 30, 2011.  This annual festival takes place at Tonaquint Park and Nature Center, located at 1851 S. My family enjoys running up to Pioneer Park in St George Utah to have a picnic or just climb around on the red rocks several times a year.  This park is located just above St George Boulevard, in the heart of St George.  There's lots of nooks and crannies to climb in and on.  My youngest son loves exploring this park and it's nice that it's minutes from home.  Pioneer Park is  a great place to take some beautiful pictures as the sun sets too.

Wordless Wednesday-This photo was taken at The Narrows in Zion National Park. Have you ever had a day when you'd like to sit in a hole and just ponder?  My 16 year old son had fun climbing up into this hole and doing just that.  His sister and little brother were to short to make it, the water in front of this nook was about 5 ft. deep.  With his typical perseverance, my middle son was able to hoist himself up here.

There's a skating rink in St George Utah, it's call Dixie Igloo Ice Centre.
They opened last year at a different location downtown and have expanded this year to the Dixie Sun Bowl arena. My family enjoyed going several times last year and went for the first time this year last night. Fewer Mortgages are Underwater in the US - 01/05/11 04:53 PM
 

In 2010, properties that have owed more than what they were worth has declined steadily, giving America fewer underwater mortgages. The properties with negative equity are attributed to troubled borrowers losing their homes to foreclosure, more so than it is to an increase in prices.  About 10.8 million residential properties with mortgages were in negative equity positions at the end of the third quarter.  That is down from 11 million reported in the second quarter.
