What do YOU immediately think of when you hear "The Yellow Brick Road?" I bet I can guess.
And it's probably not The Yellow Brick Road in Valley Center CA.
There IS a yellow brick road (it's not yellow OR brick), and it runs into Ozland Avenue. There's also Dorothy Lane, Wizard Way, and Emerald City Drive. I didn't see Wicked Witch Way or Toto Court but perhaps I was too enamored with the homes I was showing at the time. (12 comments)
It's always interesting to come across something intriquing but unexpected, if you are paying attention, as was the case of spying this roof decoration on a house in Aguanga CA on the way through the mountains to the desert.
I'm not quite sure what kind of creature it was - somewhat dragon-like or perhaps a dinosaur - but it looked a bit menacing and perhaps was there to ward off evil spirits. I couldn't resist grabbing my camera, of course.
This house also had a small market and we had stopped to buy some fresh produce on our way to Palm (12 comments)
The ledge above our front door at our prior house in Carlsbad was a popular nesting place for doves. While it was protected from the elements, it didn't make a lot of sense since every time we went in or out the front door the Mom dove would fly away. I was able to sneak up on them one day before the kids left the nest for good. (18 comments)
I was attending the CRS Sell-a-Bration in Orlando back in 2011 being held at The Peabody Hotel.
A popular daily event at the hotel was the march of the ducks on a red carpet to this massive fountain in the lobby area. Kids and adults always gathered to enjoy the fun, and the ducks knew just what to do when they arrived by elevator.
Alas, the hotel ended the Duck March in 2013 when the hotel became a Hyatt, but it still takes place at the Memphis TN location.
