I can't complain about 70 degrees at the beach in February, and this week is supposed to be sunny and warm (up to 75 or so) every day. A far cry from what we used to experience in February in New England.
It seemed like everyone was out yesterday - not a surprise - and parking was a challenge. We were hoping to see some whales that tend to migrate at (26 comments)
The community of Terramar is a pretty special neighborhood in Carlsbad, where Cannon Road meets the Coast Highway/Route 101 and south of the Encinas Power Plant.
If you want to live at the beach in Carlsbad, and especially to have an ocean-front home, this may be the place for you, provided you have the budget.
Ocean-front living is not inexpensive, and true beach front homes are limited (you will find other ocean-view homes in Carlsbad but a number of them are on the east of the Coast Road and not true beach-front although the (10 comments)
I was out looking at property and running errands on the last day of fall in Carlsbad. It was an absolutely gorgeous fall day, in the high 60s, and I decided to take a few minutes for myself and enjoy a short walk at Terramar Beach. And it was the perfect day for a few photos!
This has become my favorite beach for a number of reasons; my younger daughter got married here 5 years ago, but it's also a particularly beautiful, and rather private, beach pretty much year-round. It's always changing, due (23 comments)
Some Carlsbad buyers are particularly interested in living on the ocean, and have the budget to do so.
Are you looking for oceanfront homes for sale in Carlsbad?
While these properties are limited, there are currently some good opportunities for acquiring an ocean-front home for sale along the North San Diego County coast in Carlsbad, as well as in communities to the south including Encinitas, Solana Beach and Del Mar.
Most buyers are aware of the costs of ocean front homes, but limited supply, and demand, can cause prices in some areas to (13 comments)

This is my entry for the Real Life category in the travel/places subcategory.
Terramar Beach is one of the more beautiful beaches in Carlsbad where I live. Indeed it ranks right up for the many beaches I've been to in Southern California.
In addition to the beauty of this beach with the spectacular cliffs, it holds a special meaning for my wife and I as it's where our younger daughter got married about 3 years ago. It was a small wedding, with about (25 comments)
I didn't have time to stress-bust at the beach today - it's one of my favorite things to do - but when I do Terramar Beach is my favorite place to stroll and enjoy the beauty we have here in Carlsbad. These were from a walk I enjoyed with my wife some time ago, but I was thinking about it today and wishing I could be there, if only for a few minutes.
It's also a special place personally - our younger daughter got married there right on the beach! It was a beautiful (18 comments)
The beaches in Carlsbad are beautiful at any time of the year, IMO.
Terramar Beach in central Carlsbad just south of the power plant is a particularly beautiful, and somewhat remote beach. It's particularly nice at this time of year, even though it can get pretty chilly, since there often is no one there.
The bluffs are the most dramatic along our Carlsbad coast and great for photos. And some of the most expensive Carlsbad real estate sits atop the bluff to the north.
I was there the other day to see what the beach looked like given (0 comments)
I was out running errands and took the coast road north to the Village to stop for dinner at our favorite fish market. The drive along the coast was spectatular today, with great ocean breezes, temps in the mid 70s and not a cloud to be soon (other than inland).
I stopped by Terramar Beach to snap a few photos of this very striking coastline in Carlsbad.
I always marvel at the beauty at this western edge of the continent. Imagine living here!!
